Although I am an Atheist, I agree with Mr. Robertson on the point which he states as "Could we not at least discuss it in a civilised manner?"

I guess a few posts in this thread did not meet gentleman style.

However:
"Are you really in the position where you 'know' the truth?"
I would like to turn this question to yourself:
What makes YOU thinking that you are in the position to know the "truth" that there is a god and all atheists will end in hell?

I was catholic whole my life (raised catholic, catholic kindergarten, catholic elementary school, episcopal secondary school and afterwards) until two weeks ago.
It was not RD who made me not beief in god anymore, it was my opening of eyes and seeing what is going on with and because of religion by myself.
It was just a matter of time for me to become an apostate and RD just simply catalysed this process.

Here are some of the reasons for my personal disbelief:

1. As a child and a youth, I used to pray to god and Jesus but I never got an answer or something I could interpret as an answer.
2. The pope and catholic church as institution corrupted the values that are preached in the New Testament by Jesus. And I guess that this holds true also for other christian institutions and churches.
3. Most of the "strong" believing persons I met were not so nice actually. They were self-righteous as they were soooo good christians.
4. So, if institutions and persons and priests are not really doing what they are supposed to do,
what is the basis of faith then? The bible!
I do not know about your issue,
but mine is already contradicting itself in the first two chapters because it contains TWO versions of the creation of man. So, the bible appears to me a book of fiction and not of facts.

Who wrote the bible?
Humans and NOT god. Humans wrote the bible because they thought they had received an inspiration from god, although they had suffered from hallucinations due to thirst, heat, dreams, fasting, rumours or simply wishful thinking.
Why should I accept something like that as a basis for my own personal life?
No way!

I am sure RD described more reasons in his book TGD which I admit not to have read yet, but I will receive my personal copy next week via amazon. Therefore I do not want to elaborate my chain of arguments furthermore.

Science and reason got me further than religion ever did.

Dear Mr. Robertson,
which arguments make you belief in god (I admit that I did not buy your book either yet), that cannot be explained scientifically?

Yours sincerely,

Alexander Henke,

2. Germany Cites Koran in Rejecting Divorce

Maybe judge Christa Datz-Winter should be married to the husband for a while as she is so understanding...

I guess that would change her mind quite quickly.

3. Germany Cites Koran in Rejecting Divorce

I feel ashamed of my country's justice system from time to time, especially now.
I hope that woman will get her divorce as soon as possibly. I am optimistic that for this will be the case due to the public pressure. However, I pity all the women (regardless of their faith) who do not have the courage to stand up against domestic violence and still suffer to "protect" their children.

The new political correctness is speaking now of citizens with migration background (=parents moved to Germany and they grew up in D, but still have their parents' nationality).
To my feeling (and confirmation by some statistics) young male youths with "migration background" from islamic counties increased the number of violence crimes and also the severity of these.
In contrast, this tendency is not visible for migrants from e.g. Africa or far east Asia.

To my opinion politicians and authorities failed to set clear standards for the integration of those people, based on a wrong understanding of cultural and religious tolerance.

Well, Mr. Ross fulfilled the official requirements to get the PhD degree and therefore you cannot deny it to him.

Certainly I agree that he does not deserve it.
I guess it will be as sure as the Amen in the church that he will abuse his title to give ID and creationist ideas more credit. When he is doing so, then it is the time for all "normal" thinking scientists to discredit and pillory him publicly and portray him as a liar due to the discrepancy between with what he earned his PhD and and what he is stating publicly. Go and get him a bad reputation within his parish! I remember something written in the bible "Thou shall not lie" ; )

His way of thinking in two paradigms is simply total crap. As someone stated before, he is a f***wit.

Just besides, his tutor should be ashamed for accepting such a person as PhD student. That is unforgivable fundamentalists like Mr. Ross never change their religous beliefs, not even after a few years of PhD work in science.

Dear Dr. Ashton,
I offer you my deepest condolescence and admire your ability to turn something as dreadful as your son's death into something which is at least a little bit meaningful by asking for donations to the RDF.
My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

With kind regards,
