What I find incomprehensible is the fact that catholic schools which are 100% funded by the state are allowed to discriminate of faith grounds when choosing an employee.

This seems such a common complaint amongst the religious. They can't seem to tell the difference between being discriminated against and not being granted special privilege.

Angels and Demons is tosh of the first order. As I remember it, the head of CERN was trying to kill the pope using antimatter so that the church couldn't prove that the higgs boson existed thereby proving the existance of god. Something like that. Anyway - they all escape in a hot air balloon in the end.
It was a long flight so I may have some of the details muddled but as I remember it, it was more anti science that anti religion.

I thought the health trust sounded perfectly reasonable. Given that some people believe in sky fairies, why not make them happy and comfortable while they are ill? The story in the Express is, as you would expect, overblown nonsense. The trust is simply trying to make its patients comfortable. Really - nothing wrong with that.
This kind of story is simply pandering to the right wing nutters, we should be ignoring it not getting all worked up about it.

OVERWORKED nurses have been ordered to stop all medical work five times every day to move Muslim patients' beds so they face towards Mecca.

Okay - this is ridiculous but it is the Express. Look at the original source and it only says that the bed should be aligned with Mecca if requested. You only need do this once, why would you keep moving it back. For those outside the UK, the Express is a poisonous xenophobic rag which talks bollocks from cover to cover.

The claw is amazing! But how do they extrapolate the creature's size from it? Looking at the claw only I would have guessed that the full animal would be perhaps just over a metre long. Still pretty impressive!. Is there other evidence of size besides the claw?

This is a complete non-story. There is a science curriculum which must be followed. Evolution is in the curriculum therefore will be taught.
The department for education has already said that ID/creationism should not be taught in science lessons. I know of no science teachers who are not teaching evolution when required.
