2. Probe lands on Mars, NASA says

Comment #184570 by Raigen on May 25, 2008 at 6:26 pm

I watched the whole broadcast live from the NASA website, and it was a phenominal experience. I can't even imagine how it must've felt for those at JPL, Lockheed and Universty of Arizona.

An incredible accomplishment, I'm impatiently waiting for the first images!

Edit! First Images!

3. Mecca should become core to measure time zones: scholars

Hey, let's not all forget the fact that Muslim Science proved that Mohammed split the Moon in two because astronomers found a faultline that is millions of years old on the Moon's surface.

Had a nice chat with a Muslim coworker about that on Friday.

I would love to see their Scientific Evidence for Mecca being the "practical centre of the world".

6. Fiction or prediction?

And what of space? We know it is full of raging particles, small but lethal. Somehow, life on Earth was born from them.

Brilliant.

And a great article, I must say. Although, I am slightly biased, being quite the fan of Astronomy, and recently finished reading Pale Blue Dot for the (most likely) 200th time.

7. The Debate: Can We Live by Reason Alone?

Comment #39742 by Raigen on May 11, 2007 at 8:12 pm

As an Ontarian, who loves to watch TVO for its (usuallly) wonderful programs, I really feel I need to issue an apology here. That show was pretty much garbage, and the "debate" that followed it was nothing of the sort. The host was childish, and quite frankly, not intellectually all together (I.E. dumb as a brick). I was shocked at the "panel" for the "debate" that was obviously lined entirely with religious apologists, I mean the UofT Professor might as well should have had something more fitting under his name, for his "views". "Dawkins has no imagination"? Are you kidding me.

Ugh. Okay I'll calm down now, I hope.

Just had to get that off of my chest.

Host: "Well it appears that 84% say Yes to the World Being Better Off Without Religion and 16% say No. Wow."

Professor: "Well they all just tuned in to see Dawkins anyways."

8. 'The Evolution of Homer' Intro

The thing about The Simpsons as well was that one episode they ran when Lisa found the "Angel" Skeleton, remember that? Oddly enough that episode had some rather low-key "faith is a good thing" undertones to it, upon recollection.
