Cartomancer, Gregg,
You have both fallen victim to a mistranslation - they are not 'trousers' but pantaloons. Also, sparkly v luminesent? Please, they are covered in sequins.

Respond to what whitepearl has said you misogynistic fuckhead.
Take your hand out from those dirty skimpy pants you wear and either back up what you say or fuck off.

Wow, another copy and paste job, welldone buttercup.

We did, but i noticed a lot of anti-love for linkin park, so i thought i'd be a shit stirrer and bring it up again :).

Have you tried Hoegaarden? Best Beer around.

Edit: Thanks Steve, it appears there are 2 of us who like Linkin Park.

Joe,

Vain hopes whims and desires wishful thinking = a deliberately blind deluded fool's belief in the manifest truth of God

That's better, i only had to remove a word.

I'm sorry if this is a bitter pill for you to swallow pumpkin, but here's the truth -
There is no god, there was no creator, the quran is a piece of pure fiction, and a boring one at that.

Partial credit also goes to the Smiths, Jeff Buckley, David Bowie and Linkin Park (yes, you heard me, Linkin Park) - Also, Glenfiddich whiskey

8teist - No, but Thatcher......

(Argh - i think i'll need a shower to wash that one off)

Laurie,
How long until the pope comes to town?

On the issue of the article - This is starting to get ridiculus, using religion as a smokescreen for personal prejudices.
It's a fact that if you cut back on legal abortions, illegal abortions will rise, who wants to see a return to the 'back alley' clinics?
Also, if god is omniscient, surely he/she/it knows when people are gonna have an abortion anyway, but DOESN'T strike them down, so he/she/it must be ok with it.

Goldy,

I believe I am getting close to the elixir of life - just a few more years homebrewing should perfect the recipe...
Ah, i see you have circumvented the conventional approaches of fountain of youth or philosophers stone, good good.
I once tried to make the elixir of life when drunk - gin, vodka, vermouth, white wine and stella... the initial effects have long since passed but i think my lifespan will be drastically cut because of that experiment.

Swearing should only be used as the 'cherry on top', for example - 'It is invalid to use the argument from personal incredulity when discussing and disputing scientific advances, dickpole'

See that's valid and it expresses my disgust at such an attempt of argument.

Goldy,
How's the car coming along?

Al,
Some of your posts are more 'forthright' than others (and i love to read them, always best to go for the 'head shot' (metaphorically, of course) early on, IMO), but enquiring about a young ladies drink? For all he knows you could have been offering to buy her another one.
At least you are in our naughty detention club, we could bunk school and go get drunk somewhere!

I don't want people thinking that i'm a young, angry man who vents on this website - i'm 21, as relaxed as can be but i'm just rude and my tolerance level for stupidity has already been reached - i guess i won't make it to old age.

decius,
No, just financial shenanigans.

He handed over a cheque thinking he didn't have the money in his account (though he had an overdraft facility), then he prayed and three people deposited the money required in his account - and so the existance of god was proved.

As he tells it - In truth, he probably mentioned to people before, or after, that he needed costs covered for what he was doing (working with kids or whatever) or the money came out his overdraft - No god added £90 to his account.

To make my post slightly relevant - Giving a semi-automatic rifle to kids to encourage them to become more religious? There's something about that, that makes me uneasy......

joe,
'That was too much for them, and they calmed down.'
page 168, barrels out of bonds, The Hobbit.

Clearly shows that Tolkien predicted the existence of pulsars, decades before scientists found them.
Ergo, The Hobbit is the word of god.

527. The Return of Religion

Comment #211804 by Apathy personified on July 16, 2008 at 10:05 am

First Order of business:
An almighty backhand to the face of Roger Scruton for his condescending tone - arrogant dickpole.

Now onto his article,
A woefull ignorance of science but knowing a few sciency sounding words is not enough, neither is having read 'A Very Short Introduction to Kant', to form an article, let alone an argument.

His whole 'not my god or religion' piece at the beginning showed him for what he is - moronic - he surely can't believe that all religious people accept the findings of science (HAS HE NOT HEARD OF FUCKING CREATIONISM FOR QUETZ SAKE!)

And the continually implied 'atheism is a belief' current throughout his article shows either a deceitful nature or a lack of understanding of what he seems to affiliate with (his pseudo spiritual christian viewpoint doesn't hold much truck with atheists or other religites) and those who are out of the whole sky mum business.

All in all, a very misinformed and inaccurate piece.

Edit: Spelling

Ok, we are back to quoting from fiction books then, back to the Hobbit.

"WHERE IS GANDALF?" ASKED BILBO, MOVING OFF TO FIND SOMETHING TO EAT AS QUICK AS HE COULD.
page 122, Queer lodgings, The Hobbit

DON'T YOU SEE HOW THIS SHOWS THE SCIENTIFIC ACCURACY OF THE HOBBIT??

WHY WON'T YOU BELIEVE THAT TOLKIEN WAS THE PROPHET, THE PROPHET TO THE TRUE GOD, QUETZ?

There is still time for you to repent on your ways and read the hobbit, and the lord of the rings, and the silmarilion and the children of hurin.

YOU ARE IN SUBMISSION TO YOUR OWN WHIMS AND DESIRES.

See, very easy to do that, doesn't mean i'm right though.

537. Susskind Quashes Hawking in Quarrel Over Quantum Quandary

Comment #207597 by Apathy personified on July 10, 2008 at 3:34 am

Peter Woit (of 'Not Even Wrong' fame) posted a mini review of this book on his blog -
http://www.math.columbia.edu/~woit/wordpress/?p=703

As with anything string theory, the maths may work - but that doesn't mean there's a connection to reality.
I think the word 'quashes' is a bit over the top - Also, i thought the main beef was with John Preskill, who Hawking gave a copy of the Total Baseball: The Ultimate Baseball Encyclopedia when he changed his stance.

I see we are quoting from a book and claiming it is the true word of god - ok, i can do this.

AND SO AT LAST THEY ALL CAME TO THE LAST HOMELY HOUSE, AND FOUND ITS DOORS FLUNG WIDE
page 49, A short rest, The Hobbit.

How can you not believe???? Do you not see how this shows that gods prophet Tolkien was explaining the rapture?

IN THIS WAY AT LAST MR BAGGINS CAME TO A PLACE WHERE THE TREESON EITHER HAND GREW THINNER
page 173, Barrels out of Bond, The Hobbit

How can you not believe now? This clearly predicts the doubt we all face in our lifes, until we accept Tolkien as gods prophet.

I have now proved to you that J.R.R. Tolkien was gods prophet on earth, yet you still don't believe?

See, anyone can play that game.

Comment #205398 by Apathy personified on July 7, 2008 at 8:21 am

The Anglican s have been bitching about homosexuality
I think that says it all, does it not?

What do they expect to happen if gays or women (or heaven forbid - a gay woman) get to wear special bishop hats?

suggest that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, was not informed of the talks
Well, the cat's out the basket now, let the wrath of rowan be unleashed - yeah, a long winded rebuttal to the telegraph

Edit: I thought a 'gay surge' was a meteorological term, should we avoid any unnecessary journeys while this occurs?

Whitepearl,
I didn't think you were giving me a hard time at all, just thought i'd explain what i meant.

I think we have a different experience of cultural vacuum - mine was very benign - nothing was forbidden, but it just wasn't there, i could have taken action myself, but i never did to my regret.

No, i can't imagine, or do i want to imagine, an enforced shut off from popular (past or present) culture - sounds quite horrific actually - how is the catching up going?

Sorry if my post sounded like i was pitching for sympathy or the sound of small violins - I had a pretty easy upbrining as they go, i don't deserve (or need) sympathies from people.

Yes well, 'clearmind' is what we can term - 'a rare kind of genius'.

Edit: For clarity
