Dr Benway: Is it not within the power of the Lord to open my mouth, just as He once opened the mouth of Balaam's ass?

Not to bring down the tone of the thread (like I could after Truth), but was balaam's ass anything like goatse.cx guys ass?

Remnant: Science teacher: Today we are going to study this cake.
Student: Who made the cake.
Science teacher: It just happened let's just talk about the cake.
Student: But a cake can't just happen. Someone or something had to make it.
Science teacher: We are here to talk bout the cake.

And if the lesson was about the cake, the student would indeed be being disruptive to continually ask about who made the cake.
Would you not consider it disruptive for someone to continually ask about calculus while being taught trigonometry?
Oh, would you stop being such a gutless wonder and either trot out an argument for the flood, or admit you really have no idea?
You're being a great advertisment for the truthfullness of that book you place so much faith in. Remember, it's not just us godless heathens - there's likely to be a lot of "swing voters" coming from the expelled site.

Diacanu: So, Freddy Krueger, Spider-Man, Hulk, Terminator, Ash, HAL, Tron, Rocky, Blackadder, Baldric, Mr, Creosote, Rimmer, Lister, Kyten, I have to believe in all of them too?

Whoa! Hold on there egg head. It seem's you're implying that the Hulk is as imaginary as say Rimmer or Yahweh. You know very well that Dr. Bruce Banner is able to control his transformations now, and that accounts for the reduction in Hulk sightings we're experiencing during this age. When he's needed, he will return!

masterbuilder: Which leaves me still with the question no one could answer me until now: Why is it unscientific to establish the thesis, that there could be the possibility of a intelligent designer to create the irreversible complexity (that was not known at Darwins times). Has science disproved the existence of God? Well why then it is called unscientific to propose that he may exists? To call this unscientific is the most unscientific statement one can make!

So, do you have a hypothesis regarding, say ID?
What makes ID science?
What predictions does it make?
How can these predictions be tested and falsified?
What tests have been made and what were the results?

Remnant:
You are in essence trying to hold him accountable to what you believe is a lie. If the Bible is a lie and morals are relevant to the individual, you have no grounds to criticize him at all. His morals would be equally valid to yours.

If you go back on this thread, you'll find some posts by "MPhil" where he soundly trashes someones idea's concerning morality from God/the bible.
Come back to us when you've read it.

Why are you referring to the Bible, taken out of context to what the passage reveals by the way, from the God you don't believe in? By doing this, you are pre-supposing that God exists, the Bible is His Word, and it is truth.

Actually, the good doctor is simply assuming the bible exists.
That you believe all of the other garbage concerning it is all the more reason to point out it's internal contradictions.

Abiogenesis.
Evolution by natural selection.
Ohm's law.

These are distinct theories or sets of hypotheses. People who combine and confuse them reveal their own ignorance.

But Dr Benway, it's all a part of the "Grand Atheist Conspiracy" as you well know.
I think my chapter of the organisation is a sister chapter to the one you're in, though I'm pretty new.

implying that TheTruthID's behaviour was animal like simply will not do. He's saved, and is therefore filled with the holy spirit.
Isn't being saved supposed to change your behaviour so that you no longer indulge in such activities?

Truth, what you're having a go at is abiogenesis. Are you intending to, or do you mean to show us the flaws in evolution? Also, I think you're wanted on another thread by 5keptic.

Remnant: A first principle of knowledge is that from nothing comes nothing.

To which I'd say "quantum vacuum fluctuations".

Remnant: Scientific discoveries have confirmed that the universe had a beginning. Since the universe had a beginning, it therefore had a cause.

Wrong again. It's undecided (I think) whether the universe had a begining or not. Steve has tried to explain this, but you're again being willfully ignorant.

I think we have a small selection of questions at present, Remnant:

- What is your flood hypothesis? When? How?
- Does Genesis 1 & 2 represnt a truthfull account of the creation of the universe?
- What do you consider good and evil?

I've probably missed a couple, but these seem to be a little recuring. They're somewhat sorted chronological by time of asking, so if you could answer them in that order, that would be nice, but it isn't necessary.

Oh, please list those unanswered questions of yours and we'll probably rectify that for you.

632. Lying for Jesus?

Comment #169014 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 2:11 pm

Bonzai: As Diancanu so insightfully pointed out, if he is not afraid to show his children the X rated material in the Bible, which is full of gratuitous sex and violence, what is a little bit off hand swearing and man to man love (I never talk about my non existent sex life, maybe steve did. :)P)

The bible is all about love. Can't have love without a bit of lovin'. Don't think there is much of the "tender" sort in there however. Probably a bit rough for most, though Remnant seems to like it - closet (or not so closet) S&M fetish?

Bonzai: If he thinks his kids are so easily corruptible, that is an indication of lack of faith, either for his children or God, or perhaps he thinks God would use the opportunity to test them and they would fail?

Doesn't jesus say that any who take the faith from a child would be better of drowned with a large rock or something? Perhaps Remnant fears that, by exposing his children to us he'll be in danger of joining us in hell.
Is that it Remnant?

Remnant: When was the flood? Why doesn't the fossil record match a flood?

633. Lying for Jesus?

Comment #168991 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Comment #168985 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Bonzai: Exactly, I wonder why Remnant doesn't tell his children about this site and his debate with us here. Maybe he doesn't have enough faith in them, or in God, or both?

I said before, it's an irrational fear of the way Diacanu, Al, Rev Dark, irate and others (apologies if I missed anyone) wield profanity.
That, or he's afraid they'll catch "the gay" off your good self and Steve (again, apologies if I missed anyone)

635. Lying for Jesus?

Comment #168974 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:45 pm

RevDark: I know you don't want to answer this; I understand why you don't want to answer this. It has nothing to do with your strange paranoid fantasies of atheist/libera/fascist/intolerant/demanding cabals; and everything to do with you looking like a bell end when the historical reality of the flood is proven to be impossible.

Surely Remnant, who sounds like he's thoroughly researched the issue and come to hold a great deal of confidence in his position due to that, is eager to answer the question. I don't think it's really fair to talk about paranoid fantasies, because when the evidence is presented we'll surely not be able to doubt the veracity of the flood account as presented in the bible (and the epic of gilgamesh, but lets not quibble).

So how about it remnant? Any news on the flood? Year? Mechanism? Fossil record?

Comment #168964 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:37 pm

Perhaps because you've refused to indulge in the normal give and take which this sort of "debate" takes.
Also, you might want to list those questions, as I don't remember any going unaddressed - the other side to you being bombarded by questions by lots of "us" is that most of yours are likely to be answered due to there being lots of "us".

Remnant: Have you tested your flood hypothesis yet? How did it turn out?

Comment #168956 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:32 pm

I don't actually want to encourage either wooter or clearmind to post more of their gibberish, but perhaps running a first language version of your presumably ill thought out ideas through an automated translater would result in something which was semi-coherent enough for people to respond to.

Comment #168931 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 1:10 pm

MaxD: I think another part of the disconnect at least on Remmynant was his inability to believe that people could remain unconvinced of God's existance with out willful rebellion.

It might be the lack of sleep talking, but it seems that quoting the bible is akin to asking someone "What's 2 2?" - the truth of the biblical statements should be/are obvious, and yet we still do not worship. Therefore we must be denying Yahweh (or whoever) willfully.

ipashchuck: Logical inconsistencies How so?

All religious books are internally inconsistent. An omni-everything god is not logical. The trinity is not logical. problem of evil.

Comment #168882 by riandouglas on April 25, 2008 at 12:25 pm

ipshuk: A lack of belief in something constitutes a belief to the contrary or simply "I don't know". A religious view is a view that either supports the existence of a deity or denies it. You may define the two views by categorizing them as "religious" and "irreligious" but they are both views regarding the existence of a deity nonetheless (i.e. pertaining to religion). You must be thinking about agnosticism (or variations of it)...

No denying of a deity. If you provide some evidence, I might consider the existence of your deity of choice a possibility, but with so many to choose from, and no way to distinguish which might be the right one (or ones - shout out to my homeboy Thor and his dad Odin - word!), I don't deny, I simply see no reason to believe in existence.
