SS,

Like I stated it's not the belly so much as the fact that the belly makes their bb stick out. And bb disgust me.

Laurie,

SEXIST! I was talking about my belly getting fat like goldy's from drinking too much. :)

Defense tool? Hmmm. Generally psychos are locked up for their own good as much as the community's.

Quite right. But I meant it in the apologetic "it's not really their fault" tone.

As far as the nature/nurture thing I've always held the belief that it was a combo of both. Evolutionary speaking, that makes the most sense.

Bonzai

Wasn't even directing the race card at you. With all do respect I haven't read all of the going betweens of you and goldy. Just used a combo of scanning and group reading to get the gist.

All I remember is that someone played the race card. So let's just say my race comment was offense-an example.

161. Comment #238176 by Bonzai on August 27, 2008 at 5:35 pm

Agree 100%. Hands down. Couldn't have worded it better.

59. Plan to exhume cardinal is 'homophobic'

Comment #238171 by thewhitepearl on August 27, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Goldy,

It all boils down to the nature/nurture debate. A person can act the way they do purely from the way they were nurtured, you have qualities that were purely an act of nature, and then some people act a certain way because it's a mixture of the two-whether mostly nature or mostly nurture.

Correct?

Now moving on from that point-while you can blame lets say the way one psycho murderer behaves on genetics, it's not correct to say that all pyscho murders can be blamed on genetics and shouldn't use "genetics" as a way to excuse or explain every single psycho persons behavior.

As a side note, this is why I get tired of people always using "Not guilty-by reason of insanity" to defend themselves in court.

[Now bonzai before you go all ape on me I wasn't saying that being a homosexual is something that needs to be excused.]

Being gay is not the same way as being a certain race. You can't choose to be a certain race. Now while sexual preference is not something that some people necessarily "choose" it is a preference, and thus a decision that an individual makes.

It is a little bit of a pansy to use genetics as a defense tool. Because a.) That's not true for all homosexuals and b.) A straight person wouldn't pull the genetic card to explain why they prefer members of the opposite sex.

Of course I'll have to run this by him first.

Sounds fair. How would you like to be carried?

The reason is some people are freely throwing ad hoc ideas and solutions for complex issues, such as deportation of citizens or various changes to the constitution of a country.

[face palm] You have a reading comprehension problem. And lack the ability to pick up on sarcastic cues.

Do people have problems with me calling those ideas amateurish and backed up with a ridiculous sense of authority and confidence? Yes.

Are you daft? No one has had problems with you voicing that particular opinion. Go back and re-read YOUR posts and then the replies. I'm sure the issue wasn't you voicing your disdain for the so called arrogant and pompous attitude of me and Fanusi.

Me too! Except I wore dresses all the time (always with a matching bow or ribbon). Even while scurring up the trees and such. But I've always thought that perhaps I had these "tomboy" traits is because I had to be. (I have five younger brothers-three of which were always around me). Comment #237645 by thewhitepearl on August 26, 2008 at 9:55 pm

kkelly,

That may very well be true for some men and likewise applies towards some women.

But there are people out there that can be turned on by both sexes but decide that they prefer a certain sex over the other. In that sense it is a choice.

And then there are the people out there that don't really "see" the sex of individuals when looking for a mate. They look beyond that and focus on personality and the spirituality/connection aspect. Not paying mind to their choice and if it makes them a homosexual or not.

So why do gay people always have to seek alibi in the genes?

Good question/point.

Fanusi,

I'm going to have to commend you for your patience because this discussion has been going on for three days and 85% of it has been deportation talk.

I've heard practically the same question asked in about 12 different formats and answers that follow suit.

For Example

What we can get are the ones who really mean it, who stand up and say they want to replace the constitution with the Shariah - Abu Haza & so forth. We can get them, deport them, bar them from ever returning, seize their mosques and holdings and tear them down.

That is the way such a ruling would work. And that is both right and just. It would also act as a deterrent for violent bigmouths.

It's been said about umpteen plus 10 times, just taken on different forms.

But I'm sure the same questions and objections will be raised yet again.

Hold on

Not "saying the want to overthrow the state" is different to "renouncing Sharia"

I presume you are apostate if you renounce Sharia

What % of muslims today in the world have renounced sharia ?
Or what % of muslims have ever renounced sharia?

If the answer is 0% then you are saying deport all muslims!

[sigh]

Out of all the ideas Fanusi and I threw around, we are still on the deportation issue?

beating.dead.horse.

Fanusi,

You are forgetting Taqiyya, groups such as the harbis would quickly lie, not only about suport for Shariah, but about being Muslim. They would claim to be Jews, Agnostics, Atheists, Zoroastrians, or Baha'is. But would operate covertly, in highly independent cells, for the destruction of Infidel society and the establishment of their Shariah state.

My point: Simply asking might not be enough.

I remember bringing something similar to this up, at least I think I did. Asking isn't enough, but what would you do otherwise to prevent this issue? More complete and thorough background checks? Referencing all known connections that are tied to the individual directly and indirectly?

IQ tests are regarded by the clever as accurate, the mediocre as depressing, and by the stupid as false.

Just a question - but why does this oasis of clear thinking and reason seem to have this tabloid like obcession with the sexual sins of hypocritical clergy? The glee, self righteousness and pompousness of this triviality is bad enough - but the thought that it is actually posted here as an argument for atheism is even sadder. I thought RD did not approve of ad hominem?

As for your first question, I mean really think about it. As people who pride themselves as being more moral and born again with the nature of god and such, it's not hard to figure out.

Secondly, there is no such thing as an argument for atheism and that is a wildly inappropriate accusation to make. Outside of just plain wrong and stupid.

And lastly whether RD agrees with Ad Hominem arguments or not-is moot. RD is NOT our leader and does not try to control us as such. Nor do we feel the need that everything he says must be followed because we have minds of our own.
