It can't. That'll be the kicker. Maybe they'll split up the semester, one semester you'll have biology and the next semester you'll have creationism. one semester physics, the next..creationism...etc

I wonder if they are addressing those issues. I think I'll try to find some answers to those questions from their point of view.

Of course, explaining how God made light (and day and night) on Day One but didn't make the sun (and moon and stars) until Day Four can be the first point of discussion. Really, The Bible goes downhill from then on in!

On this note I will admit that growing up, I never took notice of that minute detail. Or questioned it. I wonder if that has anything to do with serious indoctrination. I really don't think the majority of believers either notice this, or forget about it. You are bred to believe everything the bible says, so your brain ceases to register that as a red flag. idk

BUT on ANOTHER note about religion...I just saw on the news that the Tyson (chicken/meat) factory is not honoring labor day for their workers anymore. Instead they will get to honor a muslim holiday called (I need Al or Fanusi on this one) in order to accomodate the 400 (or was it 700) muslim workers.

I'm still trying to get a handle on what is sinful in the fundie view, Us or the world or both? If WE are sinners we don't need demons to make us sin. Or is this just a matter of the degree of sinning? We need some extra demonic help for anal sex or to be pro-choice perhaps?

Both. That's why they always say things like "don't live of the world" blah blah. "Don't be wordly" blah blah. We're just born sinners. Like you are born human. I think what has always implied to me that our nature is inherently sinful. We have a tendency to sin, which is where salvation and walking with god comes into play. The demons are there to tempt us away from that path. Don't think to hard about it. You aren't supposed to as a fundie. You're just bred to believe it.

TWP - no, I really would like to know. Devils and daemons don't just appear out of thin air...

Ok are you ready for this? Satan aka the devil was once god's most beloved angel. (His name was Lucifer) legend has it that Lucifer was the most beautiful and had more power than any other angel. He got so full of himself that he thought he could overthrow god. So he gathered up an army of other angel followers to battle against god. Of course this didn't work so god banished Lucifer and a third of the angels from heaven and gave him dominion over the earth. And that's how Lucifer became Satan and the angels became demons.

Not necessarily possessed. Basically since Adam and Eve sinned ( the devil and all his demonions) have been allowed to inherit the earth. They became sinners, and thus making the world sinful, so we are born sinners. Cain killing Abel was the first act of murder and the first "curse". Which was caused by..dun dun dun..a demon/the devil. Every demon has a name, and a purpose much like every Angel has a name and a purpose. The world is the devil's playground. Does that make sense?

I mean I know it doesn't but did I answer your question to your satisfaction?

Here's what really irks me;

They really believe that you aren't REALLY homosexual. It's a demon in your life that has a bond on you. It's a type of sexual lust from a certain demon that is pretty much in charge of lust and homosexuality. That being gay is a spiritual bond, that needs to be broken. Basically you need to realise that, and have a group of people pray with and over you to release you of that bond. Pretty much an exorcism. So while they are saying that they are tolerant of you, what they really are doing is praying every night that god will open up your eyes and not just change your mind, but also that you will have enough guts to come forward and have some prayer assistance. Because unless, or until that happens you won't be "cured". After that little bit they also feel it is necessary that you pray over your family and reach back in time and rebuke the "curse". Because not only can it be some little imp running around and filling your mind with lust, but that it is a curse that has been passed on spiritually through generations.

That is what is really going on. They aren't tolerant of you at all. They smile in front of your face and rebuke your demon behind your back. It's ridiculous.

I've witnessed all of this. Been told whenever I meet someone that is gay that I need to be praying for them every night secretly. It's hardly tolerable and it pisses me off when I see it in action. And I often do thanks to the close relationship with my family.

And that's your fundie 101 lecture for the day.

The children generally range from about 12-15. (Mostly underprivleged teens, trying to keep them off the streets and out of trouble) I just might make a trip to the bookstore and read a bit. I agree best way to spend a day.

I guess you live in the part of the UK that doesn't have such a great transit system, because otherwise I would be telling them to take the bus/train. But the upside at being at your mom's is..food, less chores, your mom..

I think that religions should be fair game for any humour, satire and ridicule as long as it is not directly inciting violence against a person/group of people.

I think we should throw them all in a loony bin. Some people might feel this is violent.

Although an important rule will be that anyone at my funeral caught praying for my soul will be tossed in the incinerator with me.

Kind of violates what you said about violence but I agree. I already told my mom I wanted my funeral to be conducted a certain way. (much like the funeral scene from p.s. i love you)
