I'm still laughing at this one, seriously. (The entire Universe? Really?)

I missed the last visit of Roberston here as "Wea Flea" and can now see why people here have such issues with his, ahem, style. And people actually listen to this guy in the real word? Amazing.

Paula, I tip my cap to you for trawling through Robertson's peurile, invective, ignorant superstitious "work" and yet still come out smiling. Kudos!

Ha Ha! This is the funniest thing I've read all year. David, thank you, thank you so much for bringing such humour into my day. You are a legend in your own lunchtime.

"And the award for the funniest post on this site in 2008" (opens envelope) Ladies and gentlemen, David Robertson. Round of applause!

David, serious question: are you currently on any anti-psychotic medication or seeing a psychiatrist? (Feel free to ignore the question if it's too personal)

We do not see the effects of a God.

We never say if there is a painting then there is chances and luck that made that painting by chance.
wooter, how many times do you need to be told this. Your "argument from design" is not the same as evolution. A painting (or a car, or a mousetrap) is not organic, whereas life is. How can you be so blind/stupid not to see the same point being made to you by so many different people, and yet continue to make the same elementary mistake?

If there is an art , there is an artist.
And if there is breathtaking inanity, there is wooter!

Go read a book on evolution first, then try posting here.

Bishop: So, Father. Do you ever have any doubts about the religious life? Is your faith ever tested? Anything you would be worried about? Any doubts you've been having about any aspects of belief? Anything like that?
Father Dougal: Well, you know the way God made us all, right? And he's looking down at us from heaven and everything?
Bishop: Uh-huh.
[nods]
Father Dougal: And then his son came down and saved everyone and all that?
Bishop: Yes.
Father Dougal: And when we die we're all going to go to heaven?
Bishop: Yes. What about it?
Father Dougal: Well, that's the bit I have trouble with.

Can you tell me of even one instance when a theist has offered any evidence, subjected their views to any evidence, or provided any predictions based on a "god centered universe"?
I can just see wooter feverishly typing away and replying with: Doesn't the sun rise every morning in the East? What more evidence for God do you need?

Of course, it might actually read something like: Still east is where sun rise can you see no, that is long answers with full of all mazes and dazes in terms of poetry with no sense. This is evidence so God is true and chances and being selfish will not explain this design and cooperation, do not think ET can expplian away this is not right evoluion cannot say sun in east must rise, only God.

(My head hurts after typing all that :)

Allan, and all the others please stop the amateur psychology.
Why? Psychology is what I'm currently studying, why should I not get to use it?

I believe what I believe because I think it is true. It is not out of fear and yes I have doubted many times, and a couple of times even tried to be an atheist. But the evidence would not let me.
Sounds like an argument from Wishful Thinking - "I really, really want it to be true so it must be true." Not so David, not even close!

As for the evidence not letting you - please! It's how you've chosen to interpret the evidence, not the other way around. You're simply rationalising your decision here.

It maybe that the movie 'Expelled' is not so far off the mark.
Have you seen this movie?
The only think I can ask is that people actually read both TGD and The Dawkins Letters to see if your perceptions are actually perceptive or the result of prejudgement.

I remember asking all these types of questions when I were a wee lad, and the "answers" I got back from parents, teachers, priests etc. were all circular, never made any sense, and led me to believe this whole "god" busniess was just a load of tosh.
