While on the subject of the 'biscuit game' and catholics - what if the biscuit was one of those communion biscuits?

Another reason, besides the french ticker, to be a protestant. Any catholic lurkers out there, you better be taking notes.

The question is, does the state have the right to remove your children due to suspicion of abuse, without due process through a court of law, and without even so much as a warrant.

They really shouldn't be allowed to. My family has had to deal with CPS, which put my two younger cousins under a lot of emotional abuse and mental turmoil. And in the end, after court was said and done, there was absolutley no need for it. Of course we all knew that while it was going on, but had to deal with the court processing. Needless to say, no one in my family will dare so much as speak harshly to any child in their care while in public. The adults are even terrified of ever having to go through that process again.

My cat-like curiousity is awoken by the '(s)' - but that's probably none of my business.

Divorced parents.

Thanks for the link. I can't wait to hear and read about everything the find out and discover. Very exciting stuff.

No, not in the nature of the conversation. Can you really go to far once the subject of sexual practices are under discussion?

For instance in the US, without a court order Child Protective Services can come and remove your children.

They are completley out of hand. Bordering communistic, with the attitude that the children belong to the state, and not the parents. They were possibly a purely good thing in the past, but not so much from what I've witnessed recently.

Locking someone up is not violence. It really isn't. Not by any standards.

It may be a political ploy to say "the state uses violence" because it locks people up, but to me this is just word games, sorry.

I agree Steve. I'm actually still in awe about the example given about the government coming to your house and shooting you down for evading your taxes.

Tez,

Ah, Pat Robertson. Thanks, wp. (Did you know Zappa was one of his most trenchant critics? Check out "Jesus Thinks You're a Jerk")

I object on personal grounds. I have a very intense hatred towards that man. My grandparents are pretty good friends of his. I met him when I was too young to really know what was going on, but I do remember disliking him. A bit creepy. He "prophesised" over me. He told me that I was going to have a very personal relationship with god, that he would "reveal" himself to me in ways most christians dont have the privilege of knowing, and that I would do great things in the name of the lord. If I ever have the displeasure of meeting that man again I plan on telling him that jesus told me he was going to burn in hell.

Yes. I'm glad someone got that.

I won't pretend i know what a 'pas de bouree' turn is - but i'm sure what ever pain/discomfort you have will clear up soon, though that's a guess, i have no way of knowing that.

How charitable is it really when you're getting something out of it by perpetuating your particular brand of mythology? There's a big selfish element to it as far as I am concerned.

Exactly. Moreso, with all of the wealth that the church has, they don't really see to it to help the countries in a real benefical manner or providing proper education. They want them to remain daft and naive. And above everything else, thankful. (You "owe" us your lives and dedication). It makes it easier in the future for the church to use these people for whatever selfish scheme they come up with.

Depo Provera shot so that no one will know that they are taking birth control (the shot lasts 3 months or something like that

I think, at least for awhile, they were only allowing you to get the shot once, (or once a year) because of the risk of losing bone density.

But anyway I agree with you. They are so worried about not being pregnant they don't realise or care about the risk of STD's. For some reason it's still a common mis perception that birth control will prevent std's. Lack of proper education.

All because the church believes that god, with all of the problems in the world (not to mention any other), really concerns himself with an act, that he himself would have made pleasurable.

Before and volunteer decides to join the IRA he should understand fully and clearly the issues involved. He should examine his own motives. He should examine his political motives. The Army are intent on creating a Socialist Republic.

Chapter, page and paragraph please. I do intend to get a copy.

Also, who exactly was this written by?

And HOW exactly were they planning on getting a social government? To just declare it? Or by getting the brit's out and the unification of Ireland?

Please make sure you answer those questions.

Instead, I got swearing, obfuscation, and name-calling.

Well that's not all you got. You also got the correct answer.

Of course, in these strange times, Wikipedia is a much higher authority on the IRA than the IRA themselves.

Well, I always don't agree with wikipedia, but from googling and going to many different sites I have found what the objective for the IRA was (which Al and I both already stated) and the word nationalism popped out here and there.

Not to my knowledge. I haven't really paid that much attention to economics like I should have though. I know enough however and I really believe that people should be made up to make their own decisions with as little interference from the government as possible. Pretty much just enough to make sure people follow the laws that are agreed and voted on by the majority.
