joe,
I want to be like you, can i brain my self with a cricket bat, or do i require a full lobotomy?

Now Apathy, we know you don't have to do something so blatently evasive. All you have to do is open your mind up to islam and praise be to allah.

That's all. Just allow yourself to be easily deluded.

Fuck total state control of everything, fuck total privatisation (postal service, NHS, etc) In principle ti's quite simple really, the government provides the basic infrastructure and free markets do the rest - this only fails when people let it fail.

I think you should stop beating around the bush and tell everyone what you really think.

I very much agree with the last part of your statement in regards to free markets.

The Doctor doesn't seem to know about the black tribes in Sauid Arabia (Bani Harb and the like), he wouldn't know about them, so he probably assume Saudis are white.... when in fact there are more than a few in the Hijaz that are absolutely black as can be

Neither do I. However just by basing the fact that everytime I see something from Saudi or about Saudi, I rarely see a white person. So just that argument in itself seemed a little ridiculous to me. And then to top that (at least last time I checked) the majority of saudi's are muslim, and well that conclusion just goes without saying.

In that case.... the earth is round.... now don't go sail off the edge.

Round or flat? You can't sail of the edge of the earth if it's round.

Come on now doctor 11.6% is hardly significant.

Also to the absurdly reductionist and fallacious claim that they will come to your house and shoot you if you don't pay taxes.

Exactly. I'm shocked at that. It left me wondering where in the (enlightened) world does that happen? Over in the states, the IRS guy doesn't come to your door with a gun and shoot you down. That is pretty intense.

Comment #220365 by thewhitepearl on July 28, 2008 at 11:09 am

then you're going to have to explain to me how pinning me to the ground is different from confining me in a cell that I can't get out of

Pinning you to the ground is a physical force. (And that is the lesser extreme of violence.) In any case violence is the use of extreme rough or injurious physical force.

Not the same as confining you to a cell as punishment for breaking the law. Which in this case, tax evasion is something that can be avoided. So if you still want to say that violence and imprisonment are the same, then I'm just going to have to remind you that it could have been avoided by paying your taxes.

1210. A third of Muslim students back killings

Comment #220359 by thewhitepearl on July 28, 2008 at 10:58 am

tax evasion and state violence towards you.

Wait what? I must have missed that. w-w-w-what?

The issue is the government threatens you with a sever restriction of your liberty if you don't do as they say. And what they say is only marginally related to what the people want.

Then they need to do a better job at putting people in office that are related to what people what. Or if that isn't an option, leave.

so threat of incarceration includes a threat of violence.

I disagree with this. Not necessarily. But I guess that would depend on the situation and other details.

The smack with a bat hurts, but it wears off. A ten year sentence takes exactly ten years to wear off. Not to mention lost wages

Alright, I can see that.

1211. A third of Muslim students back killings

Comment #220353 by thewhitepearl on July 28, 2008 at 10:42 am

Incarceration is as much of an infringement of your personal liberty as a blow from a baseball bat; arguably more so.

How so?

incarceration = violence.

I still don't see how you equate incarceration with violence.

Though I don't think that the difference between the threat and the actual violence is much more than a matter of degree

It's a big degree.

It's still an armed robbery even if no one is shot.

Right, but there wasn't any violence involved. A threat of violence, which might scare you and in some very rare case, damage you emotionally or mentally. But that's a big leap to damaging your body, possibly to a point that it could interfer with your life.

1212. A third of Muslim students back killings

Comment #220350 by thewhitepearl on July 28, 2008 at 10:38 am

Pretty sure he meant "if not a threat of violence".

Threatning to put someone in jail is still not a threat of violence.

Unless they threaten to put you in jail and beat you while you are there.

1213. A third of Muslim students back killings

Comment #220345 by thewhitepearl on July 28, 2008 at 10:32 am

Just a threat. The threat of putting said person in jail or prison.

Those are my choices? Neither. Unfortunatley I didn't take any classes in psuedo science. But if I ever decided to become an expert in that particular field I shall seek you out.

I'm reminded of a cartoon I saw once that illustrated scientists on one side and christians on the other. On the scientist side they were looking at a table of evidence and above the caption said "Well here is the evidence what conclusion can we come up from it".

Meanwhile on the christian side they had an open bible and the caption read "Well here is the conclusion what evidence can we come up with to support it?"

Monty Python assignment. Up until friday night, I hadn't seen anything Monty Python. As far as the movies that I watched the list is; 12 Angry Men, Kiss Me Stupid, Since You Went Away, and a few movies starring Jack Lemmon. Although I can't remember the names of all of them. I believe The Apartment was one of them.

Now if I only knew more about this kardzic guy. Although I can't say that I agree with the mass killing of anyone, even if they are muslim.

No, I'm afraid I don't know much about either subject. Although, I am never opposed to learning.

[EDIT]
I'm good, thanks for asking :). And yourself? My weekend was ok, bit quiet - I was a bit lame last night and got very drunk while first watching high fidelity (light romcom) then candy (hard hitting film about aussie junkies). How about your weekend?

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Honestly, I don't find anything lame about sitting at home by yourself and getting a bit saucy while watching movies. It's very liberating. I'm doing well, thank you. That's merely because you had absolutley nothing of substance to say. On top of the fact that you made ill comments towards Mordy. But that's in the past and if that's your opinion then let it be.

Ooooooooops, if that's a raspberry, then what is it when you press your lips around your tongue and blow????????

Hmm good point. I think that anything involving your mouth, and making the "ppppppppppppubbbbbhhsss" noise would qualify as a raspberry. (To blow a raspberry or to give a raspberry.)

PBUM,

I must have overlooked your post because I just noticed how you cleared up the confusion first. I wanted to make sure you knew I wasn't trying to steal your thunder.

And I noticed how you emphasised "the". Very nice. :)

Isn't a "raspberry" the action of kissing your lips against someone's body and blowing air against their skin? Meanwhile making that "pphhhhhhhsuuuuuuuuushbbbb" noise?

Or are you eluding to something else?

You're right, I don't. Which is exactly why I asked. So you are quite wrong about the second part.
