Comment #89345 by arogop on November 20, 2007 at 10:54 am
I certainly feel we need to do a better job with "managing" our enviroment. However I have a few questions before I support such "humans are evil and we are in major trouble" ideas.
1. Doesn't the historical record say the CO2 levels increase after warming occured and thus may not have that great of a green house effect?
2. Doesn't the historical record show (to the best of our knowledge) that these warming spells happen routinely and do in fact happen over short and long periods of time.

I would have to doubt that most men get a "strong sexual reaction" simply due to a woman's 'grace and dignity'
---------------------
Seeing this is a "science" site I will share with you that I for one do get a "strong sexual reaction" from seeing grace, dignity, intelligence and a few other things. But of course I am probably a little different than most. If I were to guess I would think that this is the result of learned behavior and I probably saw a very attractive individual when I was young that I thought had these traits.
I do not have those feelings in this situation though. "Not my type"
How about that for a change of subject.

I think we need to take a critical look at some of the "positive" things said on this tread.
To guilt someone into giving money that they do not want or just want more information about is a down right christian thing to do. :)
I will support her by buying her book instead of getting it from the library. If it moves me... then maybe more.

I will go out on a limb and say that we will never have complete knowledge of what species evolved when and where. But it is a very facinating process and we are certainly learning alot.
In Scientific America a few month ago they have a really good article about cats and how they evolved and then migrated, got cut off, migrated back, split, migrated again, etc. It was kind of neat seeing how the ice ages really cut some off and allowed others to cross oceans.

The random but minor changes with our DNA that occur every time we reproduce is probably the reason that most pregnancies end in a natural abortion.

When talking about the constitution you should remember the 10th admendment.
It goes something like:
"The powers not granted to the federal goverment are reserved to the states."
ie. It supports the rights of the state to establish their own religious preferences among other things.

I would agree that the Air Force code of ethics should be enforced and would "fix" this problem. The problem is finding someone on the inside to do it.

Actually if he died at 12 he may not be his grandfather many times great. Probably a nephew or cousin.

At this point Rudy will almost certainly be getting my vote. It is unfortunate that he had to accept this endorsement, but it is what is needed to win. I would not worry about his track record with judges. His record speaks for itself.
He was right to Demand an apology from Ron Paul. In this day and age it is virtually never right to kill civilians.
Of all the Republicans in the race Rudy is most likely to support science and research.
But of course, it is fun to make fun of him! Isn't it awesome having a president and not a Monarch or Dictator.

Imagine what a little extra tax money could mean for the alleviation of the human problems and THUS far better conservation efforts, in africa.
As naive as it may sound, I often feel ashamed to be an american, and even a human being after seeing pictures like that.

Unfortunately the solution is not as easy as applying money to the situation. If it were that easy it would already be done. These countries are sovereign nations and have plenty of restrictions to how we apply aid into their countries. Usually a very small percent of the money actually gets to where it needs to go if at all.

My first post to this board…
I would like to support something that ChrisMcL has said.
"In one year, a small group of atheist spokesperson newcomers has done more for the cause of atheism in America than decades of Tabash and his compatriots."
I agree. I have been a life long closet Atheist. I have only been brought to this site, and activated, because Richard Dawkins appeared in an article of Scientific American. In there his book "The God Delusion" was mentioned. Both the magazine and book have opened my eyes as to how I really need to become an Atheist activist. Or at least stop letting religion slide by as unimportant.
This is very important because you can not win this battle unless people like me step up and say enough is enough.
I am a life long Republican activist and proud of it. (For those of you outside the USA, my party is often associated with the religious right.) I am a Republican because I am Libertarian in belief, fully support Capitalism, and I am a staunch fiscal conservative. The Libertarian branch of our party has largely ignored the religious part of the party since they help us get our people elected. So for that we often ignore the religion.
Richard Dawkins has opened my eyes and focused my attention on a threat to Science and Reason/Logic that no one else has ever done. For that he should be applauded.
And yes, Tabash is certainly doing good work, but we need numbers and people like me to start fixing things that we let get by.
My "Evolve Fish" decal went on my E85 Suburban last week.
