have to say - for as long as people have been praying for a longer life, they died young. Loads of diseases, high infant mortality, childbirth. Then, when we stop believing and start doing things for ourselves (science), well, well - we live longer! Diseases are still there but curable, childbirth is not as dangerous as previously, children live beyond the age of five. Of course, where they still think prayer is efficacious, the same old pattern continues.

Kardy, check out my comments to txty - there should be one with Hancock's theory :-) As it is, look on a map or a globe and note where seemingly the majority of settlements lie - that's right...the coast. Easy way to travel, all you need is a boat and it is great for trade (even today, when we can fly).
There was a great melting of ice (no, not the canopy!) after the ice ages. That water had to go somewhere and it would have an effect. And that effect is recorded in mythology.

I can't. The definition of science does not allow for the supernatural. Only natural laws are allowed in its methodology. Until the inferences of Macroevolution are more than circumstantial, I choose that the scientifically proven complexity of life was created. It is the only reasonable and logical explanation.
