btw, can anyone point me to an article here we had a few weeks back about evolution tests done in fish, they where on natural water spring , and the scientist separated some fish into springs with no predators, and others with... ones over some 4 years I think, became colourful to win on sexual selection, the others under predatory pressure became dull to win on camouflage driven natural selection,

I really want to find it, excellent stuff to quote to the unbelievers ;)

the article ended with an anecdote, on the flight back from the springs, the researcher told what research he was doing to a passenger next to him, they guy loved it and asked what was the name of the research ... once he heard it was evolution, he said I do not believe in that, and turn around...

anyone remember the article?

A successful scientist uses Occam's razor to do its work.

But if they are indoctrinated when young they can be tempted to add an extra line at the end of the paper that goes something like this. ( But invisible man could have helped the odds to make it look like it does)

Not surprisingly they only dismiss the Razor at the very end, once the work is done. Almost like an after thought,

if they didn't the lack of razor would make it impossible to withstand any peer review.

I would dare anyone to read or 'look closely' at the Nicene Creed and be convinced by it (or even understand it truly).
But the dare has one rule, it must be presented to someone that has never been indoctrinated or know about Christianity (much).

no one would buy it served cold like that, I bet anything.

I doubt that McGrath really studied the text and found the phrases and logic of it 'just fine' and went with it. For him it was the other way around, Accepted the religion first, then the Creed was just another bit of text that had to be digested as part of the Christian package that Alister ordered...

basically he is dishonest, or deluded, probably a bit of both.

Hitchens does know how to master interviews, I love the way he repeats a line until people shut up and let him finish... it is the only way to talk when religious bullies try to steal the lime light, and also the only way to remind comentators that they are not doing their job.

mmm, I get the message that we can go only so far by just pointing our finger to the faith heads while laughing and doing the routine of demolishing their arguments with logic and common sense, (even if it is fun to do).

... but what about the most extreme religions? those need to be confronted... one can't be soft with the ones who would kill you and use democracy to advance their bigotry...

I agree on the point that an egalitarian society is a better place to rise people into science and humanism... one needs to have a stable life to be able to leave the Religion crutch, I guess.

She did not say that is easy to make it, she said if you work hard you can make it...

Ayaan has real life experience with the world at its worst, and she can't find fault with a country where if you work hard you got a chance, even if it is slim chance.

In other parts of the world, the system and rule of law is against you, does not matter how hard you work, there is not a chance, so she appreciates that, I don't think she is drinking the cool aid of a rosy American dream.

the same way she says, Muslims are not prosecuted, I've seen people prosecuted in other countries, and when they are, you know because they are leaving the country.

her scale of what is pain and suffering and hard work is much higher than Americans or Europeans,

I think you are missing the point, its funny you are just repeating what she said, and it makes perfect sense.

in America the rule of law protects the other doctors that could get shot by sending to prison the assassin Christian fanatics,

in an proper Islamic country (with Sharia law, as it is commanded by the Koran) the assassins will get free, since they did nothing wrong.

I do not see what she is 'missing the point' on.

if you are asking it to be compared with a country like Turkey with no Sharia law, then it would not be comparing it to an Islamic country, to the eyes of Islam turkey is just not proper, since government is sort of independent from religion
