I've understood post-modernism as a reaction against some of the less appetizing aspects of logical positivism. Ultimately, in my view, the positivist mission marches on undamaged. But the few points the post-modernist makes about context, subjectivity, the forrest-verses-trees problem (aka the "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic" problem), have value.
My favorite pomo joke: Two behavioral psychologists are in bed together, having just finished making love. One says to the other, "That was really good for you. Was it good for me?"
