Once again, a theist makes the argument from ignorance, distorted thinking and outright stupidity.

"Who was that pompous fool who stood up in protest suggesting that atheists shouldn't be allowed to speak?"
Skeptic Jim,
My take on this guy was that he was an athiest taking the other side, speaking in raucous 18th century tones. A spoof. He also spoke in Part 9.
Comment #25404 by RickM on March 13, 2007 at 1:04 am
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Wilder-Smith (Part 7) actually prove, in his convoluted way, that virgin birth is impossible?
If we except the voting as a statistical sample (115 for, 198 against), we are able to determine that 63 percent of Oxford students are able to critically identify bull shit.

Comment #23716 by RickM on March 2, 2007 at 7:31 am
"Richard Dawkins is not pleased with God."
Plantinga misses the point.
"Apparently atheism has its own heroes of the faith."
Faith? Enough incoherent theo-babble. I gave up here. I find the comments more interesting.

Corylus,
LOL. If you wish to be challenged in this respect, go to the forum and read posts by "The Never-Never". They are amazing.

Janus,
I too find no particular confusion respecting "universal constants".
Also, if multiverses exist, what imposes a limit on their number? Are they infinite? If so, life can in exist in many forms in many universes. And whose to say our local "big bang" is the only one in our universe. Perhaps, as galaxies collide, we may collide with the product(s) of another big bang(s). Just a thought.

"All of Jesus' contemporaries recorded Christ rose after being dead for three days and ascended into Heaven. For 2,000 years people of faith along and countless scholars have pored over the Scriptures, confirming their veracity."
Is this a joke or what?
FOX News going nuts on this. LOL.

216. Debate between Sam Harris and Reza Aslan
Comment #22030 by RickM on February 12, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Indeed the discussion was "skewed" right from the very opening quotation from Aslan.
Aslan's commentary, to me, is nothing more than a bunch of distorted ramblings. As with most of these debates, the theist skirts the issues with so much language.
If he is going to convince anyone to view religion with his so called "sophisticated" perspective; good luck.

218. Root of All Evil? Discussion
Comment #20437 by RickM on February 2, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Excuse me, but we need religion to understand thou salt not kill? We need a huge religious infrastructure to tell us do unto others; as if they own that? No way.
Religion is nothing more than a big bate and switch scam.
Bate: Do onto others, love thy neighbor, God loves you……
Switch: kill fornicators, kill adulators, kill homosexuals, kill Sabbath workers, kill girls that are not virgins on their wedding night, kill someone worshiping another god along with their family and everyone in their town, kill children that misbehave, beat your slaves (except don't knock their eyes and teeth out)……
Sure, lets take the bible as a whole and not take things out of context; sure, right!
And Christian values in government? Well, folks, here's what you get:

"The problem that I see with Daniel Dennett's view is that a meme is this little bit of something that's supposed to live abstracted away from human pairs, groups and individuals."
I don't think this is a clear understanding of a meme.
It seems to me that King has the "virus" and just wont let go; has to allow it in. I won't buy the book. I won't read this thing and try to weed out what is science and what is superstitious influence.

I strongly agree with Mindwise. I think there should be an emailstorm. It does no particular good for us to express our outrage here amongst the "choir".
I think the more email/smail sent to these nuts the better. They need to know that there are more and more people who believe that their adherence to a bronze age fairy tail is ignorant and irrational.

I can't help but wonder how many little enclaves of Evangelical Christians are meeting in their homes, making plans for the future when homosexuals, adulterers and Sabbath workers can be killed.
Just how far does a believer need to be pushed that take his superstition to the edge.
