" depresingly cruel joke". That just reminded me of something that I was watching earlyer that is filed in the comedy section about suicide killers on the Daily Show w/ some French film director that was seriously not funny.

I just finished watching him talk about this book. It was as innteresting as I thought it would be. He talked about the ultimatum game and latter mentioned "framing questions" or something like that. I type too badly to go on about them much realy, but I am curios if anything much has been done w/ studying the results of the ult game w/ a variety of other "framing questions".

I am quit sure I heard them say that M shermer was to be on BookTV/CSPAN2 today,6or7 Central. And R. Paul is a right wing libertarian/republican. Liberarianism includes lot of people and ideas to the left of him and his ideas.
The Libertarian positian on the enviroment consists largly of bitching about gov. regs, praising private stewertship, and sticking ones head in the sand when those do not work. Not realy one of our stronger positions in my opinion.

Almost as funny is their take on the secret atraction people and fox news and their bonehead moves @ t loggys thing. astralia has/had(?) a cool music scene also. i used to be a big fan of the died pretty, the verlanes, the chills, the clean the gordens and bailter space. tho some of those are from n.z. actualy.

Having based our thinking on rationality we asume the same for others. This often gives them way to much credit and we can be slow in coming to the truth of the matter when unbelievable nonsense comes out their mouths.

Being a Randian prety much and a drug adict definetly for decades I figure I,v got a little to say on the matter ,tho slowly as I type slowly. While both decisions on my part are not w/o their downsides and problems, I am happy enuf smart enuf moraly reponsble enuf ect living w/ the consequences that I can say it has worked for me. Also if y'all don't already know M. Shermer is to be on BookTV/CSPAN2 today. I think 6or7 Central

i apolagies for my computer iliteracy here. I should do that, put a previosly stated coment in a shaded box, thing here but anyway. I loled on reading "-J-"s take on it. Yes really. They are so idiotic that I honestly thought they were like a joke, like Steven Cobert does w/ O'Riely. It realy is hard to fathom people being that stupid for real w/o trying. Also I wanted to say personaly I hate almost every xmas song. I can easily imagine Dawkins saying that largly to be civil and that is the thanx he gets.

My Mom, I imagine, is rather like a lot of faith-heads in that she is motivated largly by well intentioned goodness based on faith. Sam makes the simple case that well intentioned goodness based on reason and ratioality is better- not too much of a leap for any, but the most stultified among them, to see at least, if not actualy make. As the title implies this book is directed to them, not us, and this is THE book, I think, for us to get out to them to get them to at least see a way to change their minds.

My Mom on the other hand I think is better served by Sam. While never sacrificing on principal by saying anything like "The Inquisition was not so bad." Sam has continued to make a sucsesful effort to not be unduely ofensive or confrontational and therefor more readable for those who otherwise would not bother. This readableness combined w/ his reasonableness and the books brevity and afordableness make it THE book for us to use to get certain faithheads like my Mom to change their mind at least somewhat.

I am having problems getting this lost repeatedly due to me typing slow and timing out, I think, so I am dividing this up. Us atheists get enuf crap that I am not for a moment going to say there is anything at all wrong w/ being told we are right ocasionaly by Dawkins or Hitchens, or us ridiculing the dumb ass arogence of anyone who bases much of anything on faith. My personal favorite idea is that it would be great to restart the good work of the Romans and feed them to the lions-my Mom excepted.

a bit off subject here. this is simply the most recent comment site. i was having a talk w/ a coworker on the faith vs rationality thing and he asked me what rationality was. my 1st responce was to think "what an idiot", but all i could come up w/ were synonyms-logic ect. and other words that merely defined itself.came home looked it up and all the dictionary said was like "good" thinking. even worse. i imagine he'd 'v said faith was "good" thinking. help please.

It is short enuf that i think i can get my mom - a faith-head bless her heart - to read it. That and Sam as always is so unoffending and reasonable.I was waiting for the paperback release as well. The downside is tho, that I am to read something that deals w/ Dawkins that her preacher mentioned - One of his fleas little doubt.
