Perhaps Chavez in his Israel/Jew spewings is trying to cater to evangelicals, catholics or Iran? Pure speculation on my part but as it is latin america I wonder how much of that garbage is populist b.s. (edit) -to appeal to a christian base-

Well,

I just received a group email from one of my Primos, endorsing John Howard as an example the type of leader "America" needs.

Any information beyond what I got from wiki?

To add my .02 I'd like to add the Michigan State University, where Obama(Palin's debate opponent's running mate...see how it all ties in...) spoke at last Thursday, is a fine public university. It would be even better if we got a bit more state funding.

p.s. Al, that loss to UC-Berkeley was a fluke, a fluke I tell ya'.

I'm going to have to go somewhere and read the text versions of what Palin said last night. If I had dvr I would have had to rewind and play on multiple occastions and I still probably wouldn't have understood her mangling of the language. It was entertaining sitting at the bar drinking bourbon and coke, yelling at the squakbox playing the audio.

I was listening to the Couric interview of Palin on NPR and they had an audio clip of Palin not being able to answer what print media she read. I almost drove my car into a ditch yelling at her to just answer the damn question. Juneau Times? Anchorage Picyune? Washington Times? WTF! She can read can't she?

7 hours 11 minutes. I'm all aquiver in anticipation.

The candy cane creates a dichotomy only until "tutti fruiti" is encountered. In which case the multiple colors show the candy cane dichotomy to be false. Purist may argue, however, that the only true candy cane is a peppermint red and white candy cane. This led to the great candy cane schism of 1982...

A question I have with the 8 1/2 month question would be if removed would it have to be terminated? (early myself) Theoretically I would give the mother preeminence (I hope this is the right term) but if we are talking about a fetus that far along then is the discussion about termination of pregnancy or of the fetus?

-edit-how would we remove the fetus. Does it go up for adoption etc etc...hope this clarifies.

-edit2-would this consideration remove the original question being a false dichotomy... ;)

I don't think there is anything wrong with the criticisms either. It is just when you use a "what about x, its as bad or worse than y" type of discussion that it becomes a tu quoque fallacy. At least that is my understanding of what a tu quoque anyways.

-edit-though as examples of policy hypocrasy then it wouldn't be tu quoque. Anyways, I'm trying to get a handle on the whole logical fallacy topic in between being on the job, a homeowner (and the endless "projects" that entails) and getting an adequate amount of sleep... ;)

-edit2- Hello twp I'm glad you survived. Definately sic your attack dogs on the hummer owner. 20 years after the truck pulled in front of my motorcyle I have acquired the super power of being able to detect shifts in barymetric pressure by the flairing up of arthritis. *I was poolside for the mystery men interviews but sadly I didn't make the team...sigh!*

According to survey I am a left leaning libertarian. I mention various holidays like Talk Like a Pirate day and Groundhog Day and Festivus etc to attempt incite my co-workers (Mostly women aged 50 ) to participate in a potluck. (I usually also point out the arbitrary nature of "holidays" at the same time)A ground hog shaped cheese ball is nothing to be trifled with...except with a ritz or triscuit.

Comment #245704 by Tezcatlipoca on September 11, 2008 at 10:35 am

So,

Last year Sarah Palin took her kids out trick o treatin'. One of the kids was dressed as a pirate. They go to the neighbor's house and yell out "trick or treat!" and the neighbor comes to the door. He looks at the pirate kid and says, "if you are a pirate where are your buccaneers?" and the pirate kid replies, "under my buckin hat!"

p.p.s. In response to an earlier query about where one keeps the firearms... my ammo box, the 30-06, the smith and wesson 9mm and the high point 9mm are locked in the footlocker. Hopefully Cookie (the dog) can buy me 30 seconds in case of emergency.

;)

p.s. Talk like a pirate day is Friday, September 19th.

I can believe he had quite the experiences in Greeley. It's a combination cattle/college town. A friend's father taught at the university there. My friend's sister was the subject of the poem "Why am I so Brown" by Trinidad Sanchez. He wrote it for her because she tried to bleach her skin when she was in elementary school.
