Wallace Online

Wallace Online is the first complete edition of the writings of naturalist and co-founder of the theory of evolution Alfred Russel Wallace. Including a comprehensive compilation of his specimens – much of it never before seen. The project is directed by John van Wyhe, assisted by Kees Rookmaaker, at the National University of Singapore, in collaboration with the Wallace Page by Charles H. Smith.

  1. Possibly this means the end of Darwinism, and the advent of Wallace-ism.   OK, not the end.

  2. Well, had it not been for Huxley urging Darwin on to publish we would now almost certainly be talking of Wallacian Evolution; it was a fairly close run thing.

  3. Never heard of him before I went to unversity to do biology, I like to always mention him when anyone mentions Darwin.
He did start to believe some wierd stuff when he got older though, which is maybe why he is not as well known as he should be -plus he lived the longest of Darwin, Huxley etc etc so was around to make mistakes a lot longer.
