Religion kills again.

Religion kills again.  A mother has beaten her son to death because he failed to learn the Koran by heart.

Sara Ege used a stick to beat seven-year-old Yaseen “like a dog” if he couldn’t recite passages from the Islamic text.

The beatings were so brutal that the boy died from his injuries, and his mother tried to burn the body to destroy the evidence, Cardiff Crown Court was told.

Yaseen was originally thought to have died in the house fire. But a post-mortem examination showed Mrs Ege had been beating and abusing her little boy in the months leading up to his murder.

In a video recording of her interview with police, Mrs Ege told them: “I was trying to teach him the Koran.

“I was getting more and more frustrated. If he didn’t read it properly I would be very angry — I would hit him.

Religion doesn’t make anybody better, but it can take our concern for our loved ones and twist it into madness.  It can also amplify the worst of us until there is no humanity left.

  1. That poor innocent little boy! He would not have understood what he was doing wrong and why his own mum was causing him so much pain. People like that should not be allowed to have children.

  2. Another case of religious madness. She should be in prison until the day she dies.Gods are for mythology, not reality.

  3. More sadness than can ever be expressed. Many of us suffered beatings as children in the Catholic church by some very violent nuns. These memories never go away. But this child deserves a river of our tears.

  4. This poor delusional woman is as much a victim of the sickness of religion as her once tortured and now, very dead son. It takes a special kind of sickness to mislead a mother’s instincts to the point of killing her offspring to insure their salvation, and it exists in Christianity as well.
Humanity has to awaken from these mindless beliefs and insure the continuance of our species, rather than condemning it to eternal oblivion because of some misguided belief in an eternal afterlife.

  5. The really sad thing is that she probably doesn’t even realise that what she has done to the poor child is wrong…

In her mind (and sadly the minds of many other twisted, sick, religious degenerates), the child got what he deserved…

The only vaguely good thing from this awful religious murder is that at least his monster of a mother cannot hurt him any more.

  6. I read a report about this in one newspaper (sorry, but this has been reported be several and I can’t remember which one it was) where someone was shocked that the mother had carried this attack out because she was such a religious person. We have to get away from this meme that being religious automatically makes someone a good person.

  7. Oh my god; that child’s expression. I couldn’t read the article.

Poor little mite. I could weep.

  8. I think this is Yaseen, in happier days.  Supposedly, the father is implicated too.
Kind of reminds me of children winning ribbons for memorizing christian bible verses. I’d bet good money that at least one child got whippings on the road to that ribbon.
As CH said, religion poisons everything.

  9. Poor thing, most likely didn’t have a clue what he did wrong.  To paraphrase Kevin Spacey from Seven “Only in a world this shitty could people say religion (especially this religion) is peaceful and keep a straight face”.

  10. It is more likely that religion created most evil in the world because of the religious mindset of condemning all who question their sick beliefs. Especially with Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

  11. I’m still waiting for the day when our coward politicians will regard the rights of children more important than the rights of their parents to abuse them in the name of religion.

  12. I expect Warsi will campaign to get this cretinous eejit out of jail, because this mother’s incarceration is a religious persecution and shows lack of respect for the devout.

Do you notice the deafening silence that emanates from the delusionally challenged of whatever stripe when one of them right royally fucks up?

That is why religion is evil, it has no morality gauge to warn them when the shit is going to hit the fan!
And unfortunately so dim be they that they actually need all the hints going, and even then there is no guarantee of success!

  13. Part of me wonders whether this woman would have committed this horrible crime regardless of whether or not she was religious.  Anyone capable of this kind cruelty only needs an excuse, be it religion or anything else.  You hear about children being beaten, tortured, and/or murdered for such minor “offenses” as wetting themselves, crying too much, etc.  I’m not trying to downplay the repugnance of what religions require of and encourage in their zombie followers, but in the final analysis, is this just a bad combination of religious craziness and mental craziness?

  14. There is an American cookery website run by someone who calls herself  The Hillbilly Housewife. Explaining that she is often too busy to answer emails, she says this:

    “My priorities work like this:
    1 God
    2 Marriage
    3 Kids and family
    4 Home, cleaning, hospitality etc
    5 Website
    6 Email “

So the kids come third, just above the cleaning. Logically (not that she’d ever think that way) the only point of having a list of priorities is to help make a decision when there is a conflict. She must therefore at least suspect that God might tell her to do something not conducive to the kids’ welfare. He might order her to bake them in the oven as a sacrifice…

Very briefly I thought of mailing her to point out the above, but then I thought Hell, no – I don’t want to get in an argument with one of these loons.

  15. The sadness of this child’s death becomes even deeper when one becomes aware that the mother (and father by implication) could not have learned the Islamic scriptures themselves or chose to ignore them.

It is very clear in the Islamic doctrine that it is not compulsory to memorise the Koran and whilst corporal punishment of the young is supported by Islam, hadiths
state that it is  a ‘sin’ to cause actual physical damage to the child
    during punishment.

The word ‘faithful’ had become synonymous with ‘deluded’, maybe it should re-aligned to ‘pernicious’.

  16.  It could be mentioned that mental craziness is probably required to practice religious craziness in the first place.
And that goes  for any ‘belief’ in childish fantasy.
Without one handicap there would not be the other!
It would seem they gravitate towards a environment where they can be as sadistic and twisted as their little black shrivelled hearts desire.

She is obviously a batshit insane example, one wonders what the family and friends were so discrete about, because such a vicious disregard for her own child’s safety and well-being, let alone happiness, would have been noticed by at least one of them well before the child had the severe misfortune of being left alone with her!

Such damaged folk are easily spotted, they are unstable after all, no one suddenly flips in to uber murderous rage just like that, there were ample warnings, guaranteed!

  17.  Ah, but which hadiths? I’d never heard of the things, but a quick Google tells me the two biggest Islamic groups have different collections of these alleged sayings of the prophet.

  18. There is but one force in the universe that can compel an adult to beat its own children to death.  The madness of the abrahamic cults.

There will be no condemnation of the religions that cause this however. Sarah Ege will be considered a special mad case who ‘misinterpreted things’

  19. To the best of my knowledge, there is not a single religious person in the world brave enough to say:

“You know what, it’s about time we grew up and stopped pretending that believing in this shit is more important than the life of a child.”

  20. Hi Ceva,

Yep, hadiths everywhere and on every subject – barkin’ mad!

Anyways, the following was taken from

“…As a last resort, if the child is to be beaten, never strike the face,
head or any other sensitive part of the body. Never inflict wounds,
weals or bruises to any part of the body. This is forbidden in Islam. If
these Sharée limits are not adhered to, the parent will be guilty of
Dhulm (oppression), for which a heavy price will have to be paid on the
    day of Qiyaamat…”

And the bit about learning the koran, which ranges from ‘not compulsory’ or ‘you won’t go to hell’ to ‘memorise the bit at the front’ or ‘memorise any bit’ with a serious frowning if you don’t.

All I’m try to point out is that here we have yet another example religious hypocrisy with serious consequences. In this case, a child is murdered because he struggles to learn doctrine that the murderer herself either hasn’t bothered to learn or she chose to ignore.

  21. Christians are just as big a bunch of shite bags…seriously, and it’s adherents have been guilty of equally heinous activity based on scripture….even today when the retards should know better.

Lets not be too judgemental in casting aspersions on the childish antics of Islam…we all know a Christian don’t we?  Their not-so-good-book condones the same BOLLOCKS.As much as a cunts trick as this story is, and it is, look around you…the fuckers are everywhere if one wants to take this pish seriously… or not, if ya don’t.He that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death. — Exodus 21:15He that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death. — Exodus 21:17Believe your piece of shite book…or don’t, but don’t be hypocritical about it ya cheery picking whores.

  22. Yet this is religion and the Abrahamic triad are as bad as each other in fact seem to be in competition to see who can oppress,  who they can intimidate, who they can frighten, who they can make miserable and who they can murder, all three of them place great store in body counts for their delusion,
Each one of the triad has the stench of death and insanity in equal measure, the  practical parts of their various scriptural nonsense lost relevance even righteousness so long ago. all they have now is the man made up stuff that expresses intolerance and hatreds of those that are different to them…and what is really sick is that if there is no mention of their pet fears in the scriptural balderdash…they simply make it up on the spot..that is all, there is nothing else!

  23. Lets not be too judgemental in casting aspersions on the childish antics of Islam

What a thing to say.  Of course we should be judgemental.  That Christians may have done equally bad thing, or continue to do so, is not reason to let Islam off the hook.  Yours is the sort of thinking that just shuts up all discussion and argument.  “Childish antics” are bad whoever perpetrates them.

  24. I was being sarcastic…everything in context. You know me better than that, I’d have thought.

Judaism and Christianity is the big brother of all this Muslim bollocks. They think they are the mature adult in the infantile world of religious belief….they are not, it is just that most of their scriptures are disregarded these days…at least most of the time.

The point I was trying to make was people in glass houses….religion poisons everything, I despise it all, and I won’t grandstand.

I guess I could’ve been less nebulous…sorry. Anger, rage and alcohol…a bad mixture for the heady type that I am when faced with this sort of thing.

As I said,it was a bit of sarcasm….the lowest form of wit according to Oscar Wilde….I should know better.

  25. Where is the line to be drawn between irrational belief and madness?

It seems here that the murderer was reasoning with complete validity within the death-spiral mentality of her belief.

  26. /begin sarcasm

You are judging this woman’s actions in the context of your own Culture™ and not hers. Your cultural ignorance is just appalling. Muslims have the same claim to the world that you do, and are entitled to their way of life. You need to learn to respect their Culture™.

    /end sarcasm

  27. The pathologically insane Muslim freaks who carry out such egregious deeds; are effectively shooting the Pakistani community in the foot.
There needs to be an organised movement from within ;to remove the influence of those who support honour killings and
    behavioural murders as a punishment.
They should subject this murdering cow to serious psychiatric examination!
    And PUBLISH the results.
Let the truth be known ;especially to the Pakistani community!

  28. The wonderfully witty Douglas Adams would have piled them all into the B-Ark along with the remaining ‘useless third’ of the planet’s population and blasted them into space, hopefully on a collision course with the Sun. When they are finished blowing our stuff up, can we please have our planet back?  We miss it.

  29. I wonder if she was under the delusion that Allah was taking her over to punish the boy?

  30. I wonder if she was under the delusion that Allah was taking her over to punish the boy?

Worse, she blamed it on “the devil”.

“In the months after Yaseen’s death, Mrs Ege told a doctor she been told to kill him by Shaitan – an Islamic name for the devil, the court was told.”

And only seven years of age, poor kid.

  31. Unfortunately, the “life of a child” is only of use here on mundane planet Earth; these morons are out to save souls for the afterlife, hence the madness of using a stick to beat her seven-year-old son “like a dog” if he couldn’t recite 35 pages in three months from the Koran.

  32. As I said,it was a bit of sarcasm….the lowest form of wit according to Oscar Wilde

    Sure, what would he know…

  33. “…the natural product of an abusive religion is an abusive household.”

…and for those that think this barbarism isn’t applicable to the religion of Jesus Christ, meek and mild…get ta feck outta here….

Yahweh states that he will visit the sins of the fathers upon the children, down to the third or fourth generation.  Exodus 20:5

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

…while Jesus brings it all the way up to the generation he visited.  Luke 11:49-51

Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send them prophets and apostles, some of whom they will kill and others they will persecute.’ Therefore this generation will be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets that has been shed since the beginning of the world, from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, I tell you, this generation will be held responsible for it all.

Yahweh sanctioned stoning as a punishment for some sins.  Leviticus 24:10-16

Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite. The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.)  They put him in custody until the will of the Lord should be made clear to them. Then the Lord said to Moses:  “Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. Say to the Israelites: ‘Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible; anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death.

… while Jesus prescribes an eternal burning hell for all sins. Mark 3:28-29

Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin.”

At least stoning is a one time only affair, barbaric as that is, it is over once yer dead.

Yahweh’s threats of punishment were directed primarily against his own people.

…Jesus, however, expands his curse of hell to the entire world of non-believers. Mark 16:16

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Yahweh destroyed the ‘sinners’ of Sodom and Gomorrah with a rain of fire and brimstone. Genesis 19:24-25

Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.

…Jesus threatens to make the fate of some cities even worse. Matthew 11:20-24

Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[a] For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgement than for you.”

So what we have here then, is three Abrahamic religions, if taken literally, are all very bad shit.

  34. I agree wholeheartedly with all of the comments,  but don’t hold your breath
in expectation of a definite conviction. As this is the second time this POS
woman has faced trial in a case that has been dragging on for 2 years.
The first trial resulted in a hung jury.

And the defence managed that despite Ege admitting that she had
beaten her son “like a dog” for 3 months prior to his murder and that
she had poured lighter fuel over him and set him ablaze because (in her
own words) “I know he was gone but I was just trying to protect myself”

So much for fucking allah protecting the faithful, she is obviously
not that deluded, as she knows that her magic man can’t really protect
her or anyone else for that matter. He certainly could’nt protect her
innocent son from this violent imbecile.

  35. Religion didn’t kill the boy, his mother did. There’s nothing so far as I can tell which states that your kid must be beaten to death for not memorising the text.

  36. @rdfrs-7f18bfb662882d563c4d15cfc95b52ab:disqus yeah,  just think she could have beaten him to death for not memorizing recipes or song lyrics or his ABC’s…. that would be crazy, crazy crazy, right?  There were thousands of things that could have triggered this beating, but it was religion that triggered the savage in this woman.

If it did say that you should beat your child to death for not memorizing the text, would you do it???????????

  37. Much as I hate to say it,religion is almost beside the point in this tragedy. This woman is obviously prone to violence, why else would she have a stick in the house to beat a child with.Who in their right mind beats a child with anything, let alone a stick? On how many other occasions and for what reasons had she beaten him.Life imprisonment or committal to Broadmoor is appropriate, dependent upon reports of her sanity!

  38.  You’re chatting shit. There was no trigger involved here, she obviously didn’t just snap over his inability to recite the recitation as it was a campaign of abuse over months. And there’s nothing in the text that encourages the beating of a child who can’t learn it either. If there was, then I would agree that religion killed again. But there isn’t.

The reason she gave for beating him was anger and I would tend to believe her. Becoming angry enough to beat your kid to death due to an inability to quote a text is not a symptom of religion, it’s a symptom of being a complete and utter twat.

  39. @rdfrs-7f18bfb662882d563c4d15cfc95b52ab:disqus After reading the story and taking a step back to process, I think you are right and I was wrong.  The idea of the woman serially abusing the child rather than a sudden attack of anger supports your hypothesis more than mine. Good points.
