Having been brought up in the Christian church, I have been a wavering agnostic for over ten years, with next year bringing my fortieth birthday. I have literally just finished my second read through of ‘The God Delusion’ and felt compelled to offer my thanks and appreciation. You have given me much needed clarity of thought and helped me emerge from what I now realise is the woolly headed fog of self-moderated belief that most Christians live in (“It’s a nice way to live. The stories are allegorical. It’s a moral blueprint.”)
Funnily enough I still talk to God. Having had him revealed to be a figment of my imagination, I see no reason to cease over thirty years of dialogue. The difference is that self reflection has replaced hopeless prayer. He is my ‘Binker’. Very occasionally in times of trial I consult him for options, these days however it is myself that answers.
