Converts, Wed, Jan 30 2013 #(1047)

Richard,

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that reading the messages from the other converts brings me to tears. I know just how these people are feeling and how could I say it any more eloquently then they? I can’t. All I can give you is my deepest thanks in bringing this message to the World and my family.

I am a school teacher in California. I grew up never really being allowed to challenge the existence of God but I had my doubts and they were big ones. The biggest of those doubts came as a result of a Bible study class of all things! I continued to play the charade with my family, my friends, my students, and worst of all, myself. I was indoctrinated to believe that, even though I may not think it is true, it’s good for people to believe in something. It makes them happy, moral, and purposeful. After listening to your book on my ipod I came to the conclusion that that is the biggest crock of sh** and your book proves it beyond any doubt in my mind.

I no longer play the charade. I feel happier and more purpose driven. I am in awe of the wonder of the natural world and I want those around me to have the opportunity to feel that same sense of wonder. When I first came out of the closet my family didn’t want to hear it but I persisted with caution. I was finally able to catch my husband, a baptized Mormon, during the commercial break of a football game. I asked that he watch a discussion between you and an evangelical preacher. That sparked curiosity. He listened to your book, even during the football game if you can believe it, and when he removed the earphones my conservative husband looked at me and said, "I’m joining the Green Party." That was his way of telling me that this information changes EVERYTHING.

I have made it my personal commitment to read everything I can about evolution and natural selection as well as the evolution of religion so that I can pass this knowledge onto my students. What parent would want to deny their children the facts that are out there for all of us if we just research?

There are some great teachings we can take out of ancient mythological stories and my personal favorite is the phrase, "the truth shall set you free".

Sincerely,

Cindy, California
