Thank you, Dr. Dawkins, for assisting me in my liberation from the turpitude of religion. My de-conversion from fundamentalist, Calvinistic Christianity was not an easy one, and still presents difficulties. I live in southern Indiana, which has churches on every street corner, and very few atheists. I came out, so to speak, and it did not go well. People said I was being elitist, depending too much on my intellect. Trying to be civil, I did not say what I wanted to: a child could see the stupidity of religion.
My leaving the fold was not precipitated by a personal crisis or any such thing, but by a close examination of reality and scripture. I would say that the Ancestor's Tale was the nail in the coffin for my beliefs. It exposed me to glorious picture of life that excluded god. Science demolished my faith and for that I am thankful.
