Much to my delight I was able to ever so briefly express in person to you how much I have appreciated your writing over the years, especially when it came to my dealing with the intense childhood psychological abuse at the hands of southwest Missouri Southern Baptists.
As an adult, I earned an MS in biology and have worked in the field for several years. For one year I taught high school science in small rural Missouri school and refused tochoose appeasement and compromise science education by omitting the basic foundation of Biology. Naturally that led to intense conflict–especially from the religiously zealous math teacher.
Also as an adult, intellectually I came to easily realize the fraudulency and psychological oppression of religion, but that intense fear they drove deep into my scull was more of a challenge to outgrow. Your writings provided enough clear insight to make the emotional challenge much more manageable.
Last night, a friend and I traveled from the Columbia, MO area to hear you speak [in Lawrence] and weren't disappointed.
Thanks again for all the important work you are doing.
