Dear Dr.Dawkins
You have my utmost admiration.
Never have I come across such a brilliant academic!
I myself have never been much of an academic and through-out my life (I am 23 years of age)
I have scoffed at academia and prefered the world of manual labour and tradesmen. But I am by no means slow intellectually and very much enjoy having deep discussions with my fiance who has a masters in philosophy from St.Andrews.
I already knew about your work and my thoughts were very much like yours. I have started reading your books and to quote the few beside me “The Greatest Show on Earth”, “The Blind Watchmaker” (Currently reading), “The Selfish Gene” and “The God Delusion”.
They are brilliant and spectacular books! And I must admit you are one of the reasons I am giving up on my current way of life and I am studying to become a biologist (Once me and my fiance have married and things around here have settled down). I do not know what kind of Biology I am going to go into but I have an interest in Microbiology, Biotechnology and Botany.
I know some of your books have nothing to do with either of them but I want learn what you have to teach.
I have only lived on this planet for a very short time but I have endured many hardships and trials in my travels from Canada and Europe. (I am a canadian, currently living in Scotland).
I have met several of the people I have looked up to and every single time I have been crushed because I saw them for what they really are.
You seem different.
You seem genuine, honest and even minded.
And it is my deepest wish that I get to meet you in person one day.
Devlin Lliam Forster
