On September 24th, Richard Dawkins' new book, "An Appetite For Wonder: the Making of a Scientist" released worldwide.

Four days later in Washington DC, Dawkins sat down for a one-hour conversation with Seth Andrews to talk about a variety of subjects…including childhood, music, evolution, apologist "fleas," Christopher Hitchens and the memoir itself.

This is the audio of that conversation.

  1. A nice pairing of intelligent, interested, thoughtful interviewer and interesting, knowledgeable, and charming interviewee.

  2. Really good interview! Very enjoyable! It’s good too that RD overcame his previous reticence to speak about himself. While the science and the amazing ideas behind it is, rightly, to be foregrounded, it’s always interesting to learn something about the man or woman behind it. Biography, or autobiography, can inspire in the same way that a subject (say science) can. Thank you to Richard for giving us a peek into your remarkable (intellectual) life.

  3. Fantastic interview!

In addition to being one of the best interviewers I’ve ever come across, Seth has the perfect radio voice.

  4. I am very pleased Richard is taking others with him on these tours. I would hate to see the movement slow because its current leaders became too old to travel. It is important to cultivate stars of all ages.
