‘Christian’ Speaker Tells Public-School Students How to Be ‘Dateable’

According to Justin Lookadoo, "dateable" women "know how to shut up." He's given hundreds of speeches at public schools across the South.

Justin Lookadoo takes the stage before a crowd of teenagers in a rumpled white shirt and conch necklace. Beneath bleached-blonde hair, his face contorts into cartoon expressions as he rapidly spouts truthiness about dating.

“First thing you need to understand ladies is that guys are going to lie to you to get what they want and what they want is sex. The end,” he says, all in one breath and in a heavy Texas drawl.

That speech, posted on YouTube, was described as but a preview of what Lookadoo calls his “Dateable” program, a motivational speech he delivers regularly to teens in Texas and other states. In his promotional material, he claims, “This is the #1 most requested program Justin has ever produced because it’s the one where he spills the beans. He shares all the juicy secrets (all the guys’ secrets and all the girls’ secrets) to help students understand what being Dateable really means.”

A former juvenile probation officer who describes his “speaking ability” as a “gift,” Lookadoo has a website, R. U. Dateable, that 0ffers interactive guides for teens navigating their first relationships. In the section, “dateable rules,” he offers the following advice:

Dateable girls know how to shut up. They don’t monopolize the conversation. They don’t tell everyone everything about themselves.

The Dateable girl let’s [sic] God run the world, and tells herself the truth–that all she can control is herself. She doesn’t imagine things to be more than they are.

  1. Yes girls follow this excellent advice and you too could date someone as cool as Justin Lookadoo! Come on “Justin Lookadoo”? This is one of those cases where I’m not sure the article isn’t satire. Oh please let it be satire.

  2. Please, please don’t tease us. To show us your hot little body … and then tell us we can’t touch it is being a tease. You can’t look that sexy and then tell us to be on our best behavior.

Men of God are wild, not domesticated. Dateable guys aren’t tamed. They don’t live by the rules of the opposite sex. They fight battles, conquer lands,

Go for it, lads. If they’re not in a burka you can bang ’em.

  3. Well I suppose its not quite as absurd as a Catholic priest giving advice on marriage.

  4. The video was removed. The pdf seems to indicate that other topics like bullying are discussed. I cannot make a decision on this article without enough info. If he is preaching religion, then there is obviously an issue with this being done in the schools.

Seriously? Did you see this part:

Dateable girls know how to shut up.

What else is there to decide about? I don’t care if it’s religious or not its blatant sexism of the worst kind.

  6. I’m glad to hear that at least some of the kids are calling him out. The best way to silence him is to laugh him off stage (though of course there are First Amendment concerns as well).

  7. By the looks of him and by what he says, I’m wondering if he is trying to compensate for the lack of female relationships in his own life. If he really believes all that drivel I can image the only kind of woman he can be successful with is one that is living in the dark ages.

  8. “Please, please don’t tease us. To show us your hot little body … and then tell us we can’t touch it is being a tease. You can’t look that sexy and then tell us to be on our best behavior.” Eeer, is Justin thinking sexual harassment?

Girls are nastier than boys? Well, in my high school days I saw no difference between sexes, really.

  9. Has he ever been on a date himself? I have difficultly believing he would have much success.

As a gay male I find it extremely difficult to believe the dumb blond (Mr. Lookadoo’s ideal) has any appeal at all to straight males. To me that is akin to bestiality. What sort of companion is someone with the IQ of a toaster? You might not want a female companion telling you all the time your opinions are stupid, but surely you would like a companion who might say things from time to time that were novel and interesting. And why would you want stupid unemployable kids?

  10. To think that this asshole has been put into a position to potentially influence children’s thinking is reprehensible.

The only saving grace here is (and I was a bad kid and have been teaching kids for 18 years) the students will see what a hose this guy is and roll their eyes and goof on him. Especially the girls. Most will shut right off when he utters his first sentence.

There are ways to interact with kids that work and ways to interact with kids that don’t. Mercifully this middle aged douche that tries to identify with and talk the talk of teenagers by wearing a ridiculous hairdo and a shell necklace will be seen for what he is (see: major toolbag).

IMO, there is a reason the “Catcher in the Rye” is an enduring classic. That is because Holden Caulfield was typical in the sense that almost all adults were immediately identified as “phony”. Much has changed in the teenaged world. Adults being phony shit heads has not. Ask Sarah Palin about abstinence being the ONLY way; and her own child getting pregnant. Phony is phony is phony and kids just have a “phony radar”…

  11. A former juvenile probation officer who describes his “speaking ability” as a “gift,”

Mmmmm! A juvenile probation officer. – Isn’t that a job with a captive audience?

Dateable girls know how to shut up.

Datable boys know WHEN to shut-up!

  12. The Dateable girl let’s [sic] God run the world, and tells herself the truth–that all she can control is herself.

If God is running the world he has some explaining to do. Natural disasters, famine, disease, wars, ecological disasters, the list goes on…

This guy looks and sounds like a nutter.

  13. If it looks like a duck, acts like a duck and talks like a duck then it probably is a duck.

  14. Elephant in the room… I’ll say it. If it is discovered that he is a sex criminal (pedo, rapist, bestiality, etc), will anyone be surprised?

  15. Just like when I was a kid, the school staff tries to get someone “hip” that the students will listen too, and instead get someone who is “nuts”.

  16. I would argue that all people should know when to shut up if they want to be considered dateable. Is he married?

  17. Once I realized this story was legit I was thinking how cool it would have been if Mr. LookADouche had gone to my daughter’s middle or high school. She and her friends were far to intelligent to have stood for that kind of BS and would have chewed him up and spit him out. Then this morning I saw the following article, where some girls (in Texas yet) did just that. Good for them:

Sexist Christian Motivational Speaker Gets Owned By Awesome High School Students

  18. Wow! This guy has spiky bleached-blond hair and a conch necklace! And I thought Christianity was Squaresville man! But his appearance defies that! That totally makes me want to buy whatever he’s selling!

  19. He’s like a blond Greg Brady circa 1972 teleported into 2013 Texas…. Wait a minute, IS IT 2013 in Texas or is it 1972????

  20. Verily, I say unto ye, he has to be God’s gift to women. Sounds like the charming men of the old testament and, by the Lord Harry! The new testament too! Doesn’t the Paul dude hate the idea of women saying anything in church?

This guy sounds like that other charmer,Steve Harvey who wrote a book about what men expect from women.

I’m surprised that ANY woman would waste their time with such MCP’s

  21. In reply to #24 by Agrajag:

Here we see a man evolving into a cactus.

The purpose of these protein spikes is still a matter of great debate among biologists. They appear to run on bleach and some sort of starch.

Surely it must be some sort of defense mechanism.

  22. The only relationship that a Christian has any valid advice on would have to be of the master/slave variety.

  23. In reply to #25 by DHudson:

Surely it must be some sort of defense mechanism.

    See “Answers in Antigenesis” 🙂

  24. I wonder where he hides the club he uses to bash women on the head. I’d imagine that is the only viable strategy for someone who uses this rhetoric.

  25. Mostly, the blame goes to local culture. Not much happens in a “public school” if there is any doubt about how well a given agenda fits into the local culture. It is local culture that decides what is good and bad, what is permissible and what isn’t. Doesn’t matter what is going on anywhere else, it just matters locally. If the cultural interpretation and/or understanding of morals, ethics, theology, politics, whatever is flawed, it does not matter if the local cultures say “we choose to believe a lie, and not the truth.” Folks marvel that some bunch of folks let some rapist go and ostracize the victim. There is no need to marvel. It is the simple fact that the local culture condones what has been done, and frankly, doesn’t care what anyone anywhere else thinks.

  26. As soon as I saw the image, I knew this was a great day for evolutionary biology. The missing link has been found. All hail Homo Lookoodus.

  27. ugh…..I loath defending this guy….. but, if you read between the lines of his blunt, ugly redneck speak….. what he is saying is that it’s not ok for a person to monopolize a conversation….and you probably shouldn’t share too much information with other people, especially when dating… The way he said it is kind of awful, but I grew up in rural Oregon with people who would say things like this…. so I have a knack for putting ugly language in context instead of flying off handle to defend the holy children of politically correct discourse…. Anyway, the message isn’t so bad, it’s taken out of context to offend people. I wonder if I will be banned for this?

  28. More from Mr. Lookadoo here:

He definitely does not believe in gender equality. He had the mentality of a teenage boy, from the 1950s.

Absolutely shocking that he’s being shown to teenage audiences, he also does the church circuit it seems. He mistakes being ‘down with the kids’ for being an irresponsible adult. I used to work with homeless teenagers, I never felt the need to present myself as he does. Humour is important, but so is a modicum of friendly, sociable, maturity.

  29. “Girls, you think you have power because you can ask guys out. If you start asking a guy out, if you start chasing a guy, you have no power, you just handed him all of your power. Because girls, you walk up here and you ask me out, you just handed me all of your power, because now I get to reject you. You don’t get to reject me. I get to laugh at you with my friends, I don’t run the risk of you laughing at me with your friends.”

    i. Asking a guy out does not equate to chasing a guy as implied above. It is possible to ask another person out without pretext and to simply accept their answer – this is the assertive approach. ‘Chasing’ sounds more like a sexual harassment technique.
ii. The capacity to reject another person is not “power”, it is an unfortunate consequence of differences in expectation that arise between two people and that ought to be quickly accepted so that neither party loses time and may invest their energies in new opportunities.
iii. Anybody who laughs at another person having rejected them is simply a bully and the proposer is far better off and safer not associating with such a bully. Think of it as natural selection: females selecting for males who are sufficiently mature as to accept a female who chooses to initiate the relationship.
