My name is X and I am a 24 years old electrical engineer from Pakistan. It’s a shame I can’t even introduce myself properly but you see, I am the total package for millions of extremely religious “Paradise Express” passengers living in my country , an ex Muslim, an infidel, an atheist, I am their doorway to heaven , they will never miss a chance to score a place among 72 virgins, so I will have to keep my identity hidden.
Its right to say that religion is root of a lot of evil, if not all, in this country. While most of Pakistanis will blame everything that happens on India or USA , I believe it’s the religious fundamentalism that has torn this country apart.
It’s really hard to raise questions here, unless you want to get yourself killed. Once, On a TV show, the Governor of most prominent state, expressed his views concerning change in blasphemy laws, few days later, he was shot in the chest multiple times by his own bodyguard, strangely , the bodyguard was showered with rose petals by the lawyers, many of them are now the judges of high courts in this country. Absurd right?
well, It was just one little glimpse of absurdities that keep on happening in a country founded in the name of a religion. If a religion spreads peace, then Pakistan should have been the most peaceful country on the face of earth with its overwhelming 99 percent Muslim population, but the case here is totally opposite.
More than 60 years ago, The people of subcontinent were fed a really absurd ideology called two nation theory according to which, there are only two nations in the whole wide world, Muslims and Non Muslims. Pakistan was founded on this religious ideology and no wonder it turned out to be one of the most dangerous countries in the world.
We are a confused nation and we have always been confused, we have been told religion has nothing to do with violence in the country, it must be India or USA that is involved in almost every terror attack carried out by religious fundamentalists.
If Pakistan was a secular country, I am sure things would have been totally different, it’s a beautiful country except it has been turned into a hell due to extreme religiousness.
