I KNOW MY ENGLISH IS NOT VERY GOOD, BUT I THINK YOU’LL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE STORY ANYWAY.
My journey from faith to reason starts in 2002, when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Of course I was too young to understand what breast cancer was, so the only thing my relatives told me until I was around 8 years old was something like: “your mom has a very serious illness”.
Finally, my mother passed away in 2007.
I don’t remember much of her, but one of the moments I do remember is when I asked her if she believed in god:
– No, honey -she told me- don’t you think that if there really is almighty God , there wouldn’t be any evil in the world?
Later, in 2009, my father decided to send me to a catholic high-school, despite my opposition.
I can´t say that I was a atheist in that time, but I wasnt’ keen on catholic education at all.
Anyway, everything went normal till I was in third grade and the catechists decided to organize an abortion debate “where all opinions will be free”,,, but of course, they were not: when I first told them that I thought that legalize abortion for women not to have abortions in inhumane conditions was OK, they stared at me as I was some kind of monster… and later they called me a monster, a depraved, a murderer and an heretic atheist…
And since then I’ve been exactly that, AN ATHEIST.
