Ahmed Elghamry, Converts, #(2462)

I was born to Muslim parents who taught me the Quran and sent me to the mosque everyday to learn and memorize the Quran. I never understood what I read, it sounded like a well written rhymes to me, but I got applauded the more I memorize. Till I started to understand what I memorized, in addition to the nasty life of the prophet himself whom I found to be a womanizer, plagiaristic, necrophliac, racist, anti-Semitic, war criminal, ethnic cleanser, manipulative, misogynist, pedophile and a big phoney liar.
I struggled with my wife, parents, and my whole family and friends in Egypt who didn’t want anything to do with me.
I am a new convert from Islam to Atheism, and still struggling with the meaning of life and death.

Hello, Ahmed. Thank you for your brief account of your deconversion from Islam. I take it you are still living in Egypt. I hope you are safe and are able to come to workable understandings with your family. Hopefully too, you are able to make some new connections and friends to make up for those you have lost. Even in a Western country, leaving a religion can be emotionally traumatic for an individual. But, still, I hope you are also experiencing the relief and joy of a free mind and heart, able to benefit from the sciences and other academic disciplines in whatever interests you. I would like to think that you will now be able to improve your life from now on. Best wishes for the future.

I applaud your incredible courage for coming out as secular in an enviornment that can potentially be very hostile. The world would be a much better place if more people had your courage!
