Donald Trump ‘nominated for Nobel Peace Prize’ for ‘vigorous peace through strength ideology’

Feb 3, 2016

Monday was not a good day for Donald Trump. His infamous phrase ‘loser’ came back to haunt him when he was forced to admit defeat to rival Ted Cruz in the Iowa caucus after weeks of being billed as the Republican frontrunner.

But on Tuesday, it emerged that Trump’s name had reportedly made it onto a list of nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize – alongside figures such as Pope Francis and a campaigner for Isis rape survivors.

Trump’s reported nomination comes after he made a number of inflammatory and divisive comments in the run up to the caucus. The billionaire business magnate endeared himself to Katie Hopkins by proposing that Muslims be banned from entering the US and has been condemned for his comments about immigration and Mexican migrants, with one of his most infamous pledges being to build a “big beautiful wall” between the US and Mexico.

    Stardusty Psyche says:

Sure, why not? Obama got the prize for doing nothing. Hitchens likened Obama’s prize to a director
receiving an Oscar in hopes he might make a great movie some day.

I was going to say they should give it to somebody who really worked hard and accomplished something tangible in achieving an actual peace, like _______________.

Drew a blank, maybe that why it goes to hopefuls now. Anybody got any real candidates in mind?

Wait, I know, how about Milo Moiré for her courageous stand against Cologne taharrush violence?
I would love to see more protests of that sort…

I hereby nominate the ‘star-nose mole’ for its ability to “detect and gulp down prey with astonishing speed” (Nature).

  • @OP link – He also a claimed to have seen a letter submitted by an unidentified US nominator who proposed Trump for “his vigorous peace through strength ideology, used as a threat weapon of deterrence against radical Islam, Isis, nuclear Iran and Communist China”. He did not list Trump as one of the candidates who actually has a chance of winning.

Thousands of people are eligible to submit nominations for the Peace Prize. The Norwegian Nobel committee typically receives more than 200 nominations, according to the Associated Press.

Some nutty US Trump supporter has expressed stupidity in making a nomination, claiming that making threats is a way to peace!

Just another political self-deluded laughing stock from the USA!

  • Of the serious nominees I was pleased to see Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation. A survey of Iranian attitudes after this deal was done shows excellent changes in attitude, towards the US and the P5+1 countries, against nuclear weaponry and for President Rouhani as he tip toes sensibly towards the light under the noses of the Ayatollahs.

  • I see Trump is not only a loser, but a bad loser!

Presidential candidate Donald Trump has called for a new election in Iowa, accusing the Republican winner, Ted Cruz, of fraud.

Mr Trump pointed to the fact that during the caucus the Cruz campaign told voters rival Ben Carson planned to quit the race, which was not true.

The Cruz campaign apologised to Carson’s camp, saying it was a misunderstanding.

Mr Trump also cited Cruz leaflets that accused Iowans of “voting violations”.

Paul Pate, the top election official in Iowa, condemned the mailers on Saturday, saying the state does not track or grade individual voters.

Mr Pate said Mr Cruz’s mailers “misrepresent Iowa election law” and that they were “not in keeping in the spirit of the Iowa Caucuses,” but he stopped short of any official action.

“Ted Cruz didn’t win Iowa, he stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong and why he got far more votes than anticipated. Bad!” Mr Trump said.

Earlier, he wrote on Twitter that Mr Cruz “illegally” won the caucus, but later deleted the tweet.

  • Theodore Roosevelt won the prize, as did Woodrow Wilson, Henry Kissinger, Menachem Begin, Barak Obama and Mother Theresa. These were bellicose folk. Mother T was a con artist who collected huge amounts for the poor then spent it on gold religious ornaments.

    Rival nutty wall-builders’ ideologies???
Or just a pope pandering to Mexican Catholics?

The Pope has questioned US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s Christianity over his call to build a border wall with Mexico.

Pope Francis said “a person who thinks only about building walls… and not of building bridges, is not Christian”.

The New York businessman supports deporting nearly 11 million undocumented immigrants.

Calling himself a “proud Christian”, Mr Trump blamed Mexico for the Pope’s remarks, calling them “disgraceful”.

Mr Trump has alleged that Mexico sends “rapists” and criminals to the US.

“.A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not of building bridges, is not Christian. This is not the gospel,” he said.

Interestingly if we look at history:-
The Leonine City (Latin: Civitas Leonina) is the part of the city of Rome around which the ninth-century Pope Leo IV commissioned the construction of the Leonine Wall.[1] It is on the opposite side of the Tiber from the seven hills of Rome and was not enclosed within the ancient city’s Aurelian Walls, built between 271 and 275. The Vatican City is within the enclosed area, but the Leonine City, containing also the Roman rione of Borgo, is much more extensive than the tiny Vatican City.,31489,1850368_1874478_1874457,00.html

  • You can’t protest during an election or at a Republican campaign rally without ramifications. All that does is give ammunition to the other side: “look at those disorderly people. They are animals. They don’t respect the First Amendment. Get them out.” It plays right into their hands.

Mailer (an astute political commentator) warned protesters of that back in the late 90’s. No one listened. “I wouldn’t be surprised,” he said to Amy Goodman, “if protesters who protest during elections are on the Republican payroll.”

On the other hand, Trump is surging, protesters then disrupt Trump’s rallies, drawing white extremists to them in turn, delegitimizing Trump for the general.

So no conspiracy is likely. But the protesters need to be smarter. Too much at stake.
