A Community in Dialog- An Interview with Rana Ahmad by RDF Germany

Oct 13, 2016

Rana Ahmad is a Syrian, born and raised in Saudi-Arabia. After she discarded her religion, she had to escape because she was threatened with death by her family and the government.

Five years ago Rana started to read books by Richard Dawkins, Darwin, Nietzsche, and Voltaire. This changed her view on the world and her religion. From this time on she lived a public and a secret life. During the years it became obvious, she could not hide anymore. In May 2015 she escaped to Turkey. After a fundraising, supported by Richard Dawkins via Twitter, she arrived in Germany in November 2015.

On October 7, 2016 she told her story at an event in Cologne. The RDF Germany took the opportunity and recorded a short interview with her. Furthermore, we are happy to announce that the RDF Germany could recruit her as a volunteer to support the forthcoming “Help for Atheist Refugees” project in Germany.
