The Immorality Of Evangelical Christians In The Age Of Trump

Feb 21, 2017

By Phil Zuckerman

On Dec. 14, 2012, a mentally unstable young man shot and killed 20 children at Sandy Hook Elementary School. One of those kids, the youngest, was Noah Pozner. As a parent myself, I cannot come close to even fathoming the pain and suffering his senseless slaughter caused his parents. What could be worse than having your child murdered? Little else. And yet, the pain of the Pozners did not end there. In the aftermath of the massacre, a handful of lunatics began falsely claiming that the Sandy Hook shooting never happened — that it was all made up. And Noah’s father became the target of these cruel individuals; he has been taunted and tormented by their ongoing attempt to frame the murder of his son as a hoax. Leading this immoral, sadistic campaign is a heartless man named Alex Jones, who uses his media might to perpetually lie about Sandy Hook, claiming that the shooting was fake, and blatantly taunting the parents of the children who were murdered there.

And Alex Jones is supported and encouraged by our current president. In fact, just days after losing the popular vote by nearly three million votes and yet winning the electoral college Ponzi scheme, Donald Trump personally called Alex Jones to thank him for all that he does.

Such moral depravity is emblematic of Donald Trump. This billionaire blow-hard, this “pussy-grabbing” misogynist, is awash in immoral relations and immoral actions. He defends and respects Vladimir Putin, a despot who has personally ordered the assassination of men, women, and children. He appoints the most racist Senator in the United States — a man who spent his life fighting against civil rights and then lied about it only weeks ago in preparation for his confirmation hearings — as the nation’s Attorney General. His closest adviser, who is now virtually running the country, is a thrice-divorced, alimony-evading shill of white nationalists. His leading spokesperson daily peddles “alternative facts” — or what normal human beings refer to as bald-faced lies.

Jones is obviously just deluded conspiracy theorist, who like Trump, likes to target people (who are dealing with matters which they personally are too dim or bigoted to understand), – as “enemies” for the self-proclaimed “big-shot” to bully in front of an audience!

  • What Phil doesn’t understand, but the holy Evangelical Christians know with Faith’s certainty, is that God often uses quite evil, nasty people to do His will, and to complete His Divine plan for humanity and the World. Thus Hitler’s activities made the Jews see that their duty was to return to the Holy Land, in order to bring about Armageddon, Luther and Calvin split Christianity, in order to facilitate the founding of a Protestant United States, with its vast military forces for good and its all-preaching, all-bible, rock ‘n roll meg-churches. Pissarro and Cortez conquered Central and South America, in order to allow them to be Christianised.

Of course it’s bad luck about the unfortunate hundred million who lost their lives due to the Nazis, the many millions who died in the Reformation, the millions of Indians who were killed in the conquests of the Americas, but God knows his job, and I’m sure that he feels just as badly about the co-lateral casualties as do their families. After all, we’re all His children.

  • ….the unfortunate hundred million who lost their lives due to the Nazis…

No. It wasn’t a hundred million, period. I’ve heard that number before – on Fox News and elsewhere. (Why not two thousand or a billion?) That number is false.

  • Apart from the gas chambers, there were many millions in Russia, the Balklans, Eastern Europe… I don’t know Dan, it’s the number I’ve always heard, and for once I didn’t check it, as I’m usually careful about these things. 100mil must be somewhere near the ball park anyhow. It still doesn’t invalidate my point that He is a blood thirsty bugger. I also forgot to mention Pol Pot, The Indian Ocean sunami, Japan in China and Korea. According to some Muslim divines, the sunami was caused by people in bikinis or less, sunbaking, swimming and drinking on the beaches.

Hard to judge whether he or his God is the nastiest bastard. God made you therefore he has the right to kill you any time he wants. How, where and when did God acquire this right? I suppose that in a society which not so long ago endorsed slavery, and which remains so dedicated to the absolute rights of property, it would seem to be natural that the Creator can do what he wants with us.

As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods, they kill us for their sport.

William Lane Craig: “the existence of God is as real to me as the external world.” Jesus! People listen to this guy! We need to invest in education! At long last! Education! No arms build up. Invest in education and end poverty! We can do it. It can be done.

eejit, Did you include the 240,000 that were either wounded or killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Well that was WWII, but it wasn’t “the Nazis” who did that.

Have you seen the Harris vs Lane Craig debate?

Right now, Spicer is calling the protesters at these town hall events “paid protesters” and “noise makers”.

Only in recorded form! Died January 13, 2016 (aged 97) – Berkeley, California, U.S.

We need to invest in education!

The problem in the US, is that twit-theologists like Craig, have academic qualifications, and are given academic posts – so they can pose as offering education to the naive!

William Craig (November 13, 1918 – January 13, 2016) was an American academic and philosopher, who taught at the University of California, Berkeley.

Trump’s press secretary and his surrogates are delegitimizing the protests. Typical. This is the worst administration ever. Spicer’s a con-man like Conway (who seems to have disappeared); his job is to lie and mislead, to normalize the Trump presidency.

Sorry! I should have looked more carefully when I checked for his university employment. Thanks for the correction.

However, my point about education, and people like Craig being able to present themselves as professional educators by way of “university” employment, still holds.

  • Here’s yet another problem: the Southern element. It won’t be easy to get this country back on track.

Southern Politics: 5 Ways The South Is Destroying America

    By Chuck Thompson

EDITOR’S NOTE: Of course, this piece does not reference all Southerners, but the identifiable trends in the Southern politics over time.

To many observers, the veneer of contemporary Republicanism makes modern southern politics appear little different than the brand of conservatism that prevails across the mountain states, Southwest, Midwest and even large pockets of the […]Pacific Northwest.

    It isn’t.

Stripped of the façade of party colors, the game of division, nullification, and obstruction practiced by southern reactionaries today is the same as the fathomlessly fraudulent politics that split the country in 1861 and in significant ways has kept it apart ever since.

The problem is that today’s southern-fried Republican Party hasn’t simply abdicated its most important leadership positions to Dixie pols, it has adopted its rebel culture of suspicion and hostility toward any Washington D.C. government.

The result is a political process hobbled by a poisonous tradition of southern resistance and vendetta that keeps the country dithering over such ridiculous matters as contraception and gay rights while China colonizes half of Africa, builds the world’s greatest high-speed rail network and even manages to do capitalism better than us.

That’s because unchecked southern pathos are destroying the American political process with a time-sharpened array of toxic influences:

In June 2010, at the height of the ineffectual effort to cap the BP Deepwater Horizon oil gusher on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico, the Louisiana State Senate devised a novel solution. Interesting fact here. The founder of the Free Presbyterian church in N. Ireland was the redoubtable Dr Ian Paisley. He received his doctorate (honorary) from Bob Jones University, and served on its board of governors; so the ultra fundamentalist strain in the North, has a strong, Southern, finger lickin flavour.

Meanwhile, in another part of the world, and without the slightest trace of irony:

“Our indoctrination can’t stand up to rational competition so this is a serious concern – and the denominational indoctrination of children which has divided Ireland for decades, should be a monopoly!”

A classic in preachers’ psychological projection and double talk!

@your linkRev McIlveen, who has retired from Sandown Free Presbyterian Church in east Belfast, said that while it’s important not to censor literature, there is also a right to challenge the contents of the book.

“I feel that for a child of primary school age, humanism is not something that should be put into their mind.

. . . . . . Classic double talk! (Don’t censor OUR literature but any which competes or debunks it … should be blocked! )

If we insert alternative words in block capitals the psychological projection becomes evident!

“I think that they are far too young to even make that decision as to the rights and wrongs of [CATHOLICISM/EVANGELICAL PROTESTANTISM] humanism and I think this is an exploitation of young people to try and indoctrinate them into a view that many people in Northern Ireland would reject.

“I would feel very strongly about the fact there should be a clear barrier between the message of [CATHOLICISM/EVANGELICAL PROTESTANTISM] humanism and impressionable minds.”

Yep! – Without a monopoly to indoctrinate the young, dogmatists and their god-delusions feel threatened by rationally presented information!

Donald Trump’s government has revoked guidance to US public schools that allowed transgender students to use toilets matching their gender identity.

The guidance, issued by his predecessor Barack Obama, had been hailed by as a victory for transgender rights.

But critics said it threatened other students’ privacy and safety, and should be decided at state level.

Mr Obama’s directive had sparked a backlash across the country, with legal challenges from 13 states.

The latest change will have no immediate impact, because Mr Obama’s directive has already been temporarily blocked by a judge in Texas since August.

The Obama administration’s guidance was based on its interpretation of Title IX, the federal law that prohibits sex discrimination in education.

During his presidential campaign, Mr Trump said transgender students should be allowed to use whichever bathroom “they feel is appropriate”.

But he reversed his stance after facing Republican criticism.

American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten called the move a major setback for trans rights.

“By rescinding these protections, the Trump administration is compromising the safety and security of some of our most vulnerable children,” she said.

“Reversing this guidance tells trans kids that it’s OK with the Trump administration and the Department of Education for them to be abused and harassed at school for being trans.”

Some celebrities also criticised the decision on social media, with TV presenter Ellen DeGenere tweeting: “This isn’t about politics. It’s about human rights.”

Online business review site Yelp is introducing a new feature to help US customers find gender-neutral bathrooms.

The website announced it will add the function in a blog on Friday.

It classes a gender-neutral bathroom as a locking, single-stall toilet accessible to people of any gender.

It comes a day after Yelp announced its support for transgender teen Gavin Grimm in his Supreme Court battle against his local school board.

Yelp was one of 53 companies – including AirBnB, Apple and Microsoft – which signed a friend-of-the-court brief, filed on Thursday.

Gavin, 17, is arguing that the school board in Gloucester County, Virginia, has discriminated against him and that its bathroom policy – which means he cannot use the boys’ toilets because he was born a girl – violated his civil rights.

Bathrooms in the US have become a political battleground in recent years.

Last month, Donald Trump’s new administration revoked guidance to US public schools that allowed transgender students to use toilets matching their gender identity.

China has granted preliminary approval for 38 new Trump trademarks, paving the way for President Donald Trump and his family to develop a host of branded businesses from hotels to insurance to bodyguard and escort services, public documents show.

If Trump receives any special treatment in securing trademark rights, it would violate the US Constitution, which bans public servants from accepting anything of value from foreign governments unless approved by Congress, ethics lawyers from across the political spectrum say.

The trademarks are for businesses including branded spas, massage parlors, golf clubs, hotels, insurance, finance and real-estate companies, retail shops, restaurants, bars, and private bodyguard and escort services.

Those god-fearing Christians who shouted praise for Trump’s anti-abortion and contraception orders, would no doubt approve of his regard for law, “declarations of conflicts of interest” and “moral” business ventures! 🙂

Prof Wendy Savage told the Mail on Sunday it was “outrageous” some hospitals did not tell a woman the sex when it was “her body, her foetus”.

She was speaking after MPs this week voted to introduce a bill to repeal an 1861 law criminalising abortion.

She also said it was a “woman’s right to decide” when to ask for an abortion.

She told the Mail on Sunday: “It’s her body. She is the one taking the risks.

“The foetus is a potential human life at that stage (in the womb); it is not an actual human life… I think you’ve got to concentrate on the (rights of the) woman.”

Professor Savage, 81, a retired obstetrician and gynaecologist and a member of the British Medical Association’s (BMA’s) ethics committee, was speaking to the paper in a personal capacity.

Under the 1967 Abortion Act in England, Scotland and Wales, a pregnancy can be aborted before 24 weeks if two doctors approve it.

The law does not apply in Northern Ireland, where abortion legislation is based on the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

The majority of abortions in England Scotland and Wales take place before 24 weeks, and are allowed in exceptional circumstances after that time.

More than 90% take place at 13 weeks or earlier, according to the BMA.

Prof Savage said in her long career she had “only a couple of cases” of being asked to approve an abortion past 24 weeks.

So in England, Scotland and Wales, modern biology and medicine is used as a basis for making decisions on abortion, while in religion infested areas like Northern Ireland, the Vatican, and some parts of the USA their thinking is still stuck in the ignorant bigotry of the 1860s!
