Trump judicial nominee said transgender children are part of ‘Satan’s plan’, defended ‘conversion therapy’

By Chris Massie and Andrew Kaczynski

In a pair of 2015 speeches, President Donald Trump’s nominee for a federal judgeship in Texas described transgender children as evidence of “Satan’s plan,” lamented that states were banning conversion therapy and argued that sanctioning same-sex marriage would lead to polygamy and bestiality.

Jeff Mateer, the current first assistant attorney general of Texas, was serving at the time as general counsel of the First Liberty Institute, a religious liberty advocacy group known before 2016 as the Liberty Institute. He faced criticism from LGBT rights groups for his work with the organization, such as opposing the expansion of nondiscrimination protections to LGBT people in the city of Plano. If confirmed by the US Senate, he will serve on the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
In a May 2015 speech, titled “The Church and Homosexuality,” Mateer discussed a Colorado lawsuit in which the parents of a transgender girl sued her school for preventing her from using the bathroom of her choice.
“In Colorado, a public school has been sued because a first grader and I forget the sex, she’s a girl who thinks she’s a boy or a boy who thinks she’s a girl, it’s probably that, a boy who thinks she’s a girl,” Mateer said in a video posted on Vimeo in 2015 and reviewed by CNN’s KFile. “And the school said, ‘Well, she’s not using the girl’s restroom.’ And so she has now sued to have a right to go in. Now, I submit to you, a parent of three children who are now young adults, a first grader really knows what their sexual identity? I mean it just really shows you how Satan’s plan is working and the destruction that’s going on.”

Ah! Maybe a boy? Maybe a girl? Maybe maybe, maybe?
This is the level of attention to detail which one has come to expect from a god-deluded know-it-all political clown, posing as an expert on human biology!
Who needs to know factual details about transgender and intersex biology, or “which gender a transgender individual identifies as”, when a god-delusion’s dichotomous preconceptions provide ALL the answers, without any study of the subject at all? 🙂

I mean it just really shows you how Satan’s plan is working and the destruction that’s going on.”

Yep! He clearly has a deep understanding of “the demonic theory of human embryology and sexual development”! 🙂
Could it be that he was home schooled by god-besotted ignoramuses – or studied “Bible Biology” in some theological pseudo-educational establishment?

When “god-did-it” is not explanation enough, “Satan-did-it”, completes his mental level of understanding of the laws of nature!

  2. TV is very annoying.

Some talking-head: “That will provoke the North Korean leader…”

Oh really? Brilliant analysis. Now let’s see what we can sell. Time for our fiftieth commercial break in ten minutes.

It’s all pathetic. The whole country is pathetic. Trump pardons and praises the that sick sadistic sheriff and the people in the audience cheer?

300 plus million people and Trump is in office?

Melania, the so-called first lady (trophy-wife), spoke at UN about cyber bullying? Theater of the Absurd.

(Someone ought to tell her that Don Sr, the fake President, is the No.1 Cyber Bully!!)

    Pathetic country.

  3. Obviously to be a judge you need to get through law school, do tonnes of study and have some form of intelligence, I’d imagine he would be on the high end of the bell curve and yet in this other area he can be so patently moronic.

It’s like religion performs some form of lobotomy. I remember as a teenager as a fundamentalist Mormon trying to actively filter my brain from thinking through uncomfortable thoughts like this, almost like doing the times tables in your head to stop yourself thinking. It does give you some hope though, we keep eating away at these people the odd bit of logic will seep through and bang! They will start to struggle to believe at all.

Obviously to be a judge you need to get through law school, do tonnes of study and have some form of intelligence,

You do realise that Liberty University has a large (somehow?) accredited law school, to feed science-illiterate, YEC-addled, law graduates into the US legal professions?

I suspect it does not take a much different mentality to memorise and regurgitate state laws rather than biblical quotes, – or to use (coached?) faith-thinking “interpretation” techniques, to assist in decisions based on these two combined together!

  5. You do realise that Liberty University has a large (somehow?) accredited law school, to feed science-illiterate, YEC-addled, law graduates into the US legal professions?

No Alan I did not! That is a truly horrifying prospect.

  6. It seems there has been some unnoticed “transgender voting” in the Trump family, for several years!

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/jared-kushner-woman-female-vote-registration-new-york-gender-status-a7970501.html

Jared Kushner has been voting as a woman for eight years

Jared Kushner, senior adviser and son-in-law to President Donald Trump, has been registered to vote as a woman for eight years.

Records from the New York State Board of Elections list Mr Kushner’s gender as ‘female,’ according to screenshots obtained by Wired. The records indicate he registered to vote in November 2009.

It is unclear whether the listing was intentional, or a mistake. Mr Kushner last voted on 8 November, 2016 – the day of his father-in-law’s election. He has yet to comment on the situation.

  7. Is it just me, or can others on this site look at the facial photos of these recent Trump appointees, like this guy, and say to yourself “Looks like an idiot to me, entirely unsuited for the position to which he/she has been appointed. ? ” Akin to ‘gaydar’…..

Is it just me, or can others on this site look at the facial photos of these recent Trump appointees,

It’s probably Botox to present an image of fake youth, health and openness, – just like the squeaky clean suits are worn, to give a fake impression of conscientious intellectual application to detail, to con the easily misled, over slick salesmen promoting a junk product!

  9. I can appreciate the photographer trying for an impression of youth etc but somehow, for me, I look at the eyes and facial expression and instantly think “The lights are on, but no one is home”. OK, maybe it is just me. Mea culpa. Perhaps I should offer my impressions for a fee…..

  10. It seems there are strange conflicting laws on transgender status in India!

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-41566641

An Indian naval officer who underwent sex change surgery has been discharged from service.

A navy statement said its “rules and regulations do not permit the sailor’s continued employment” because of “irreversible gender reassignment”.

Sabi, formerly Manish Giri, has said that she will appeal to the military court against her sacking.

It has sparked a debate on transgender rights in India, where it is legally recognised as a third gender.

Sabi joined the Indian navy in 2010. She underwent gender reassignment surgery in late 2016 while on leave.

When she returned to work, she alleged that she was confined to a psychiatric ward for nearly five months.

“It was like being in jail,” she told BBC Hindi’s Sushila Singh.

Sabi said she rejoined the navy in April, and she received a letter discharging her from service on 6 October.

“The individual chose to undergo irreversible gender reassignment on his own accord, whilst on leave wilfully altering his gender status from the one he was recruited for at the time of his induction,” a navy statement on her sacking said.

An Indian Court ruled in 2012 that there was no legal bar to an adult man having a sex change surgery. And in a landmark ruling in 2014, India’s Supreme Court also recognised transgender people as a third gender.

“I am not a criminal, I have done nothing wrong, I have only revealed my true identity,” Sabi said, adding that she would fight for “justice”.

But legal experts say that transgender people in India are in a strange situation: on the one hand, they are legally recognised and protected under the Constitution, but on the other hand they may have been judged to be breaking the law if they have consensual gay sex.

According to a 153-year-old colonial-era law, a same-sex relationship is an “unnatural offence” and punishable by a 10-year jail term.

Ah! The “benefits” of colonial Christianity!!!

Greece’s parliament has approved a new law that will make it easier for people to change their legal gender.

Citizens over the age of 15 will now be able to change their gender with a court ruling and without requiring a medical operation.

LGBT activists said the new law was an improvement, but criticised it for not doing enough to establish “full self-determination” for transgender people.

The Greek Orthodox Church said the move was “immoral”.

The bill, which passed by 171 votes in Greece’s 300-seat parliament, removes medical requirements from the process of changing legal gender.

Under the old law, those wanting to change their gender on official documents had to undergo sex-change surgery and medical tests.

This was heavily criticised by human rights groups and LGBT activists. ILGA-Europe, an LGBT rights advocacy group, described it as an “outdated and oppressive practice that violates individuals’ bodily integrity”.

Speaking after the vote, Evelyne Paradis, the group’s executive director, said: “Progress – but not perfect. That sums up my feelings at the moment.”

“Today is a great step forward, but it’s a shame that the step was not one towards full self-determination for all trans people in Greece.”

Of course there are some backward voices from the usual suspects!

The leader of conservative opposition party New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, said: “For us it is inconceivable to bar 15-year-olds from consuming alcohol, yet enabling them to take such an important decision.”

. . . with the usual dogmatic ignorance from those whose “faith” thought processes start with asserted doctrinal preconceptions from the dark ages!

The Greek Orthodox Church also opposed the bill and called for it to be withdrawn.
In a statement (in Greek) they said it “defies customs and common sense, and, above all, destroys people”.

It seems that people in both India and in Greece can understand the existence of Transgender individuals, so hopefully some so-called “educated” Americans, can catch up with the medical and legal levels of understanding in these developing countries!
