Trump names climate science denier to run NASA

By Joe Romm

In a Friday night news dump, the White House announced that President Donald Trump Plans to nominate Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), a climate science denier to be administrator of NASA.

Bridenstine is a politician without any scientific credentials, unlike previous NASA chiefs, and for that reason his nomination has already been criticized by both Florida’s senators Marco Rubio (R) and Bill Nelson (D), Politico reports. Rubio said, “I just think [his nomination] could be devastating for the space program.”

NASA scientists have led the way in documenting the scientific reality of climate change. But in 2013, Bridenstine not only gave a speech on the House floor filled with standard denier talking points, he actually ended his remarks with a demand that President Obama apologize for funding research into climate science.

“Mr. Speaker, global temperatures stopped rising 10 years ago,” claimed Bridenstine, “Global temperature changes, when they exist, correlate with Sun output and ocean cycles.”

Bbbbut Buzz Lightyear didn’t have any science qualifications – and look at HIS wonderful GREAT space achievements!! 🙂

Standard procedure:- Another Trump “know-it-all” science illiterate in charge of a science department!

“Mr. Speaker, global temperatures stopped rising 10 years ago,” claimed Bridenstine,
“Global temperature changes, when they exist,
correlate with Sun output and ocean cycles.”

Who needs thermometers to check ocean temperatures, or astronomers tracking solar cycles, when science denying science illiterates have readily available “alternative facts”!
These are so much more in tune with the fantasy policies of Trumpery and the profit targets of the coal industries? ! ! 🙂

Perhaps he will also save a fortune on satellite costs, AND fix the current problems, by announcing that gravity has been abolished by executive order, wind-speeds in hurricanes have been steadily reducing over the years , and that Trump has almost abolished those floods and wild fires which Obama policies caused! 🙂

  2. This guy went to Cornell and Rice? I would have to see those transcripts. Looks like a religious, right-wing, Gomer Pyle, preacher type to me. Just saying. I know looks can be ….

And shouldn’t a NASA background be an absolute requirement for a NASA administrator? Wonder what Bolden’s direct reports think of Trump now. Surely Kirk Shireman would have been a better candidate for this position. We would even have the added benefit of being able to call him, Captain Kirk! Instead we may get Jim Brideoffrankenstein.

How much lower can we go and how much worse can it be???
Maybe we should all gather, form a circle and pray that the Lord anoints Jimmy with the knowledge he needs to guide the NASA sheep to safety and fire all those evil NASA climatologists who keep lying to us about global warming!

How much lower can we go and how much worse can it be???

This is the question I’ve been asking myself since inauguration day. The answer can only be – we can go lower and it can get worse. This is why I want Trump & co. out as soon as possible. They are doing substantial damage here and abroad.

  4. That’s right, Laurie. Hitting bottom can work for addicts, and they can and often do die in the process.

Apply that analogy to us. We can die, lose our selves completely, as the rule of law and various institutions are eroded.

You should see this. She discusses that (and speaks very candidly and well about sexism and other matters) in this interview and her book.

Perhaps he provided Trump with the maps and statistics on NAMBIA – demonstrating the “detailed grasp” of overseas issues by the Trump Administration!

“Nambia’s health system is increasingly self-sufficient,” said US President Donald Trump at a lunch with African leaders in New York on Wednesday, reeling off a list of their nations’ achievements.

    But no such country exists.

Could the US leader have been referring to Namibia? Zambia? Or perhaps, The Gambia?

Social media users wasted no time in offering their own explanations.

    One poster wrote:-
According to researchers, Nambia’s #1 export is Covfefe. Huge deal in the works to increase trade. Very, very big deal.

Some Twitter users bristled at President Trump’s comments about Africa’s “tremendous business potential”.

I have so many friends going to your countries trying to get rich.
I congratulate you, they’re spending a lot of money,” Mr Trump said.

“It [represents] huge amounts of different markets… It’s really become a place they have to go, that they want to go.”

“Only one thing will work” in dealing with North Korea after years of talks with Pyongyang brought no results, US President Donald Trump has warned.

“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years,” he tweeted, adding that this “hasn’t worked”.

Of course competent people have been talking to Trump for years about the urgency of climate change, the needs for contraception to limit the human population explosion, and the need for competent people to work in administration and diplomatic services: – BUT this “hasn’t worked, so it is no surprise that North Korea are unimpressed by his aggressive posturings, and feel the need for a deterrent and a capability to defend themselves!
