Amid Stormy Daniels news, Trump expected to announce faith-based office on National Day of Prayer

President Trump plans to sign an executive order Thursday to create his version of a faith-based office during a Rose Garden ceremony in front of 200 religious leaders — a move that has caused concerns about church and state under previous administrations.

The timing of the event, on the National Day of Prayer, comes as Trump continues to receive attention for a settlement his lawyer paid to Stormy Daniels, an actress in pornographic films who has said she had a sexual encounter with the president more than a decade ago.

Former New York mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who serves on Trump’s legal team, said Wednesday that Trump made a series of payments reimbursing his attorney for the settlement. Trump confirmed Thursday that lawyer Michael Cohen was reimbursed, but said that they payments were through a “private agreement” and did not come from campaign funds.

  • Maybe he could get Stormy Daniels to make a few comments during National Day of Prayer?
I’m sure she could tell some stories.
Maybe she could share some tips on her “profession” for the evangelicals.

If she would be willing to go on stage and make a big dramatic production where she confesses her gazillion sins with every single get down dirty detail and then while sobbing, begs God, Jesus, Mary and Joseph and all of the angels and saints for forgiveness – Now that might just bring on the second coming of Christ (Get lost rogeroney, you perv!!!) 🙂

After all, who doesn’t love a good redemption story?

  • Joking apart, the sight of this ‘man’, who cheated on his first wife with his second wife, then cheated on his second wife with his third wife, then cheated on his third wife (while she was bearing his child) with a Playboy stripper and a porn star, leading a ‘National Day of Prayer’ without causing an explosion of outrage across a country that pretends to be based on ‘christian values’, just boggles the mind.

  • Oh this is fucking priceless. Trump has just thrown Giuliani under the bus already. Standing outside the WH talking to reporters Trump said that Giuliani had been only been on the job for one day when he made his comments about the stormy Daniels payment to Hannity on Fox Noise. “He’ll get his facts straight” said Trump and “he’ll be making a statement”. True enough Giuliani has already tried to walk back what he said. Watching these venal stupid, lying fuckwits tie themselves in knots trying to explain away Trump’s mendacity is hilarious. I bet Mueller and Stormy Daniel’s lawyer are pissing themselves laughing.

Trump said that Giuliani had been only been on the job for one day
    when
he made his comments about the stormy Daniels payment to Hannity on Fox Noise.
“He’ll get his facts straight” said Trump and “he’ll be making a statement”.

Lawyers – regardless of how economical they are with the truth, are expected to check records before making statements [not just asking questions], purporting to be “facts”!

So Trump’s assertion when “interpreted” is:

“He’ll [be ordered to] get his [alternative] facts [bendy] straight” said Trump, and “he’ll be [ordered to be] making a [revised] statement” to muddy the waters.

  • Quite a soap opera, eh what? Might even be a team of writers behind it all, too, well a team of writers trying to unspeak what has already been spoken. It would be so much easier for them to use Nixon’s response of “what I said yesterday is inoperative today”.

  • The thing is I really don’t care about Stormy Daniels or prayer breakfasts – and neither should anyone else. These are distractions from the very real harm that this man is doing to our societies and our planet. I care about rolling back decades of hard-won emissions regulations. I care about the millions who will lose health insurance under this administration. I care about the heightened risk of nuclear war because of this dimwit. I care that our president may have conspired with a foreign government to subvert our democracy. Lots of things really – but Trump’s affairs with pornstars? Nope.

  • Well said, John, tyranny can creep upon a society without that society noticing. Trump’s attacks on the media and any number of other targets are desensitizing and grooming a section of the American public to lash out with anger at those targets, and giving support to similarly-minded people in other countries too. Two steps forward for democracy and now one step back, maybe one giant leap back. I hope not.

  • I see the UK’s barmy buffoon Boris the brexiteer, is visiting The USA and thinks he can persuade Trump to leave the Iran Nuclear Deal alone “for fear of an arms race in the Middle-East”!

What he fails to grasp, is that Trump thinks arms races are good for the profits of his Republican-sponsoring and supporting munitions, weapons, and gun, manufacturers.

It is also strange, that the possession of nuclear weapons by Israel and Pakistan is not seen as a similar problem!

He’s getting some airtime here and compared to certain other politicians, he comes off as extremely reasonable and articulate!

He can be reasonable and articulate – especially if the UK civil service provides him with a script and he keeps to it! – But he is also prone to silly Trump-style, “made-up-on-the spot” remarks!

Unfortunately he is also into fantasy finance, fantasy planning, and fantasy diplomatic negotiating positions!

He was Tory mayor of London, but it is noteworthy, that after he stepped down, his voters had had enough of the Tories, and Sadiq Khan of the Labour Party is now the mayor of London!

Michael Cohen distances himself from President Trump: ‘I put family and country first’

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, who once said he would do anything to protect the president, told ABC News in an interview released Monday that he now puts “family and country first.”
Cohen was asked repeatedly if he was considering cooperating with prosecutors in their probe, and he responded that if he is charged with anything he would defer to his new lawyer in the case, Guy Petrillo, for advice.

Cohen’s lawyers recently completed their own review of the seized materials, concluding that more than 12,000 documents are protected by attorney-client privilege and therefore cannot be turned over to prosecutors.

But ABC reported that once Cohen’s new attorney, Guy Petrillo, takes the helm, an agreement to share information between lawyers for Cohen and Trump will come to an end.
Petrillo did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Cohen’s willingness to deal with the feds could have a major impact on special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of potential coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia, which in just over one year has already lodged charges against more than 20 people and companies and collected five guilty pleas.

As the former executive vice president of the Trump Organization, Cohen could possess unique knowledge of Trump’s finances — an area Trump once said would be over the line for Mueller to investigate.

It is probable that this aspect of investigation would be referred to the NY State prosecutors who would be able to pursue independently Trump’s alleged long history of laundering dirty Russian money through property deals covered by anonymous ‘shell’ companies.

US President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen made recordings of his client discussing payments to a former Playboy model, US media report.

The tapes were reportedly discovered during an FBI raid on Mr Cohen’s property earlier this year in New York.

The New York Times reports that on the recording Mr Trump and Mr Cohen discuss paying Karen McDougal, who says she had an affair with Mr Trump.

The tape was reportedly made two months before the election.

The Department of Justice is looking into alleged hush money paid to women who claim they had a relationship with Mr Trump.

In the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, Ms McDougal sold her story to the National Enquirer, which is owned by a personal friend of Mr Trump, for $150,000 (£115,000).

She says the agreement gave the Enquirer exclusive story rights and banned her from talking publicly about the alleged affair.

But the supermarket tabloid did not publish her kiss-and-tell, and she says she was tricked.

Federal investigators have reportedly demanded the National Enquirer’s records on the payment to Ms McDougal.

After Trump’s denials of Comey’s testimony, and Trump’s bluff about Comey’s contemporaneous recorded notes being allegedly challenged by imaginary recordings, it should be no surprise that anyone doing business with Trump, would make recordings as a record of any meeting covering details which might be disputed later!

President Donald Trump has condemned his former lawyer Michael Cohen amid US media reports that he secretly recorded Mr Trump discussing payments to former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

The tapes were reportedly discovered during an FBI raid on Mr Cohen’s property earlier this year in New York.

Mr Trump tweeted that such a raid was “almost unheard of”.

He added that a lawyer secretly recording a client was “totally unheard of and perhaps illegal”.

Yep! In Trump-World investigating criminal or illegal activity, or keeping accurate records without including “alternative facts”, “might be illegal”! 🙂

I mean – Cohen is only a lawyer, -so what would he know? – But perhaps some of the red-necks in Trump-Base have never heard of it, so they may believe him – especially if Faux-News or DimBart repeat it a few times in authoritative tones!

The New York Times reports that in the recording, Mr Trump and Mr Cohen discuss paying Ms McDougal, who says she had a 10-month affair with Mr Trump in 2006, a year after he married his current wife Melania.

The tape was reportedly made two months before the November 2016 election that saw Mr Trump become president.

The Department of Justice is looking into alleged hush money paid to women who claim they had a relationship with Mr Trump.

It is suggested that such payments, if proved, would amount to an election expense.

Failing to declare election expenses is a crime.

Mr Trump and his aides have consistently denied he had an affair with Ms McDougal, or had any knowledge of any payment to her.

The New York Times says state law allows one party to a conversation to tape it without the other knowing.

It adds that Mr Cohen, while working on behalf of Mr Trump, frequently taped conversations with journalists, other lawyers and business opponents of his client.

It goes on to say that Mr Trump himself also has a history of recording phone calls and conversations.

But this must be the subject of criticism!
It shows Trump to be lying! 🙂 (again)

Who would think of making recordings for accurate record-keeping or staff training purposes? 🙂

OOoops! Many businesses do this – and announce it from their telephone call centres!

Perhaps being confronted with verbatim records which squeeze out and eliminate those “alternative facts”, and kill “stealth-mode”, is just a bridge too far for Trump’s brain to handle! – So back to bluster mode! (again)!

  • So with the tape confirming that Trump is lying about his affair and his knowledge of the hush money, he attacks the witnesses, and rants about how terrible and (allegedly) “illegal” the disclosure of the evidence is!

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-44949500

A recording of a conversation in which President Donald Trump and his lawyer discuss a payoff over an alleged affair with a model has been broadcast by CNN.

Mr Cohen says: “I need to open up a company for the transfer of all of that info regarding our friend, David.”

This could be a reference to Mr Trump’s friend, David Pecker, president of American Media Inc, the National Enquirer’s parent company.

Mr Trump says later: “So, what do we got to pay for this? One-fifty?

Ms McDougal reportedly received $150,000 (£115,000) from the Enquirer for her story.

The next section is pivotal. Mr Trump is heard saying “pay with cash” but it is not clear if he is suggesting to do so or not do so. Mr Cohen’s response is clear: “No, no, no”.

Mr Trump is then heard saying “cheque”.

At the very least, the tape shows Mr Trump was aware that discussions were taking place to buy the rights to Ms McDougal’s story.

When previously questioned about Ms McDougal, President Trump had denied the affair and said he had no knowledge of any payment.

Mr Cohen is reportedly under investigation for possible bank and tax fraud, as well as potential violation of election law.

Kaitlan Collins: Row over CNN reporter’s White House ban

A CNN reporter has been barred from a White House event for asking Donald Trump “inappropriate” questions.

Ms Collins attended a photo opportunity with Mr Trump and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on Wednesday. She was acting as the pool reporter – representing all television networks at the event.

She said she had tried to ask Mr Trump questions about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s postponed visit and recently released tapes documenting a conversation with lawyer Michael Cohen.

The president reportedly ignored the questions. Shortly afterwards, Ms Collins was barred from a Rose Garden press event with Mr Trump and Mr Juncker.

“They said that the questions I asked were inappropriate for that venue,” Ms Collins told CNN.

CNN condemned the ban as “retaliatory” and “not indicative of an open and free press”.
The White House Correspondents Association called it “wrongheaded, and weak”.

Traditional rival Fox News also attacked the ban.

“We stand in strong solidarity with CNN for the right to full access for our journalists as part of a free and unfettered press,” network president Jay Wallace said in a statement.

Trumpies seem to think they can only answer the questions they like, ignore critics seeking clarification on Trump lies and self-contradictions, and label any objective negative reporting “false” news”!

Perhaps some follow up prosecutions for TREASON will be appropriate, if Trump fails to achieve his “great deal” as Putin’s permanent governor of the Soviet Republic of America!
