A new film, “Trump Prophecy,” will be shown in some limited theaters on Oct. 2 and 4. The film is an adaptation of a book, co-authored by Mark Taylor, a retired firefighter, who claimed he received a message from God in 2011 that the Trump presidency is divinely ordained.

Liberty University film students are reported to have participated in the making of the film. At the same time, however, thousands of Liberty University students are also reported to have signed a petition saying they did not support the film.

Media outlets, such as the Religion News Service, commented that the “film is part of a small but influential Trump prophecy movement” that believes Trump’s election was part of God’s plans, and those who condemn him are servants of Satan.

One comment on “Trump prophecy and other Christian movements: 3 essential reads”

  • We recognize that every good and every perfect gift comes from you

The Problem of Evil raises its anti-theist head. Generally it’s skirted around (who can read the mind of God), diverted (God punishes Evil – God’s vengeance is the consequence of man’s evil deeds), ignored (god has infinite love for us), or denied (the ultimate outcome of all disasters is good). But they are stuck with the fact, that an all-loving God sees fit to slaughter millions of his children in tsunamis, wars, avalanches, volcanic eruptions, famines, climate changes and epidemics.

There’s no wriggle room, God is almighty and he made us and our evil, mercenary, grasping, violent, ignorant, hatred-filled souls. He made our inefficiently designed bodies and dysfunctional minds. He made a planet home for us which delights, at a whim, in killing us by the million, and a Universe which bombards us with external matter which periodically wipes everything out.

Of course Trump is part of God’s plan, everything in the Universe is, has to be, even free will was created by God and its exercise is preordained by his almighty plan, down to the smallest sparrow-fart.

So I’m afraid the believers are stuck with Trump, whether they like it or not!
