Pat Robertson: The Idea That Earth Is Only 6,000 Years Old “Does Not Compute”

Pat Robertson has done it: He said something sensible. It’s such a rare sight to behold that we should all stop to admire it.

It happened on today’s episode of The 700 Club in response to a woman named Sheila who said she learned in church that Creation occurred 6,000 years ago, but that didn’t make sense “compared to science saying dinosaurs are thousands or millions of years old.” (Millions, Sheila. It’s millions.)

She asked Robertson how she could reconcile the two, and he responded that she just needed to get over all that 6,000-year-old garbage.

  • I thought Pat Robertson was one of those hardcore true believers. I watched the National geographic documentary about the Kitzmiller vs Dover trial. When the judge ruled that intelligent design is not science and that it does not belong in biology class, Pat Robertson said something like Dover decided to turn its back to “god” so they better watch out. He obviously sounded very angry that he did not get his way.

The solution is simple. Present to the YEC all the evidence that point to an old Earth. In my experience, most of the time, they won’t accept the data. It depends on how “science” curious they are. When they stop responding, it signifies that you got through to them. Hopefully, the curiosity light bulb turns on in them and maybe they can pick up a few science textbooks.

The evidence suggests, that reading educational science books only lights up YEC fundamentalist indoctrinated preconceptions, and  urges them  to write fallacious blogs and flea books contradicting them!
