The sanctification of Donald Trump

May 7, 2019

By Andrew Restuccia

For his closest advisers, President Donald Trump is a godsend — literally.

Trump’s campaign manager says the president was sent by God to save the country. The White House press secretary thinks God wanted Trump to be president. And the secretary of State believes it’s possible that Trump is on a holy mission to protect the Jewish people from the threat of Iran.

Forget the allegations of extramarital affairs, the nonstop Twitter insults and the efforts to close the southern border to migrants. Trump’s allies insist that his presidency is divinely inspired.

“There has never been and probably never will be a movement like this again,” Brad Parscale, the president’s campaign manager, wrote Tuesday morning on Twitter. “Only God could deliver such a savior to our nation, and only God could allow me to help. God bless America!”

    Well, that’s a positive :-).”

That’s what I thought after we “elected” Ronald Reagan (silly me).  Okay, but surely George W. Bush was the bottom of the barrel (ya, right !).  What next?

Reagan won because John Anderson pulled enough votes from Carter to give Reagan the victory.  W. won because the Supreme Court stopped the vote.  Trump won because — how do I count the reasons?  My point is that every time I think it can’t get any worse — it does!

I predict we’ll replace Trump with some one better, but in 4 or 8 years, people will fall asleep and disaster will strike again. The only answer is organize and organize some more, and then organize again!

  • The systemic problems in US Democracy are legion, and must be addressed.

But the bloated yet bloodless timeservers among Democrat leaders have to be swept away. The young voter must be engaged in her own future by seeing herself up on screen.

“Knock Down the House” illustrates exactly the Democrat failure of re-invention.

We may be stuck in a punctuated political equilibrium.

  • What’s the deal with the USA and Israel? It’s like they are married or something. Why did Donald declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and then the palestinians declared violence. Is Donald trying to start a war?
