Perry Stone Claims America’s Coronavirus Outbreak Is a ‘Reckoning’ for Allowing Abortion and Gay Marriage

When right-wing pastor Perry Stone held a prayer service at his church in Cleveland, Tennessee, earlier this week, he declared that the current COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in America is a “reckoning” brought on by the nation’s rejection of God and its embrace of reproductive rights and marriage equality.

“If this is a moment of reckoning, and I know it is; I know what I heard, I did not make that up,” Stone said. “I audibly heard the phrase, a male voice speaking, and I believe it was the Holy Spirit.”

“Why is there a reckoning?” he asked. “Because we have by law forced God out of our country and basically told him, ‘In public places, you’re not welcome.’ You’re not welcomed in our schools, so our schools are now shut down. No prayer in public school, no Bible reading in public school. Now they’re telling kids to stay home for who knows how long, so our schools are shut down.”

  • “… the current COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in America is a “reckoning” brought on by the nation’s rejection of God …”

Would someone be so kind as to explain to me how one can reject something which does not exist?

Regarding the remainder of the drivel being spewed forth by Mr. Stone, someone should refer him to the first clause of the First Amendment to the US Constitution, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion…”

  • When you think about it, it’s not that surprising that so many of these evangelical types are such big Trump fans.

The god they worship is a evidently a narcissistic, manipulative, vengeful, vindictive psychopath too.

I see there are others from a rival delusion who  are also conducting experiments to see how well prayer saves people from the virus!

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Bangladesh for a mass prayer session on Wednesday, amid fears that it could lead to a wider outbreak.

Local police chief Tota Miah told AFP news agency that 10,000 Muslims had gathered in Raipur town to pray “healing verses” from the Koran.

It comes as a religious event in Malaysia was confirmed as the source of more than 500 local infections there.

Apparently some eyewitnesses suggest the may have been as many as 30,000 there, with 16,000 at the Malaysia event spreading it to neighbouring Brunei, Singapore and Cambodia.

Yep!  I reckon science has a much better understanding of his hearing supernatural voices!

Psychosis occurs when a person loses contact with reality.

    The person may:

Have false beliefs about what is taking place, or who one is (delusions)

See or hear things that are not there (hallucinations)

  • No, moron, your “god” is angry because you religio-bots are supporting “President” pussy grabber, sexual assaulter, swindler, nepotist, justice obstructer, traitor and all the “prosperity gospel” fakes on television.

  • N_Ellis #6. Your post made me picture the Christian god as a Far Side mad scientist proclaiming:  “The fools, I’ll destroy them all.”

  • Ugh! Haven’t we seen this before? How many Jews were blamed and killed because of the Black Death?

It always amazes me how far we’ve come as a species. We are able to pinpoint the cause as a virus too small to be seen without the aid of a microscope, yet our species still looks for alternative answers from a corporeal idea floating around in the sky, out beyond our planet.

  • “Reckoning for Allowing Abortion and Gay Marriage”?

Not god, the planet strikes back! Exponential population growth is at the root of climate change, pollution, species extinction, pandemics, poverty etc. We had the means to curb it a long time ago in a rather painless way by contraception and yes! abortion (war seems to be the preferred way). If we don’t wake up very soon, we don’t deserve any better than to make ourselves extinct. I am sorry for all the animals that have to go the same way.
