This policy of Facebook’s is certainly the right way to go, but I would be happier if it were not based on premises derived from political labeling (what is misleadingly called identity politics) but on evidence-based principles of truth and falsity and on related moral principles of integrity and mendacity. Telling the truth is good, and lying is bad.

Evidence clearly indicates that sexual orientation is a matter of biological fact and not of personal choice. To promote conversion therapy, which has been thoroughly discredited already, is lying, and in many countries the promoters would be liable to prosecution on account of legislation protecting people against false claims regarding medical treatments or commercial offers.

This LGBTQ Nation article brings to our attention one of the countless instances that exhibit how utterly divorced from reality and morality Christian fundamentalism is.
