Men in Iran are wearing hijabs in a display of solidarity with women across the country who are forced to cover their heads in public.

Wearing a headscarf is strictly enforced by so-called […]

    • Wearing a headress doesn’t cut it, Iranian men just need to get a grip of themselves, literally!

No need to fret chaps, it doesn’t make you blind.

I can still see, I can see perfectly.

    • Good idea! Freud was right about the significance of hair to especially sexually repressed men. The Middle Ages had similar obsessive ideas about hair and, as the last refuges of bigotry, some churches and synagogues still do demand that women cover their heads. Parallel meme evolution?

If visible hair makes these ‘men’ lose control where do they spend time on the worldwide web? Hair adverts must be doing a lot of damage.

      A fragile religion.

With a god who is unable to extract his own vengeance for affronts.
With a faith so weak that it can bear no criticism.
With male believers so weak minded they are unable to control themselves.
With beliefs so emotionally barren that music, dancing and visual arts present a threat.
With certainty so lacking that the faithful need reinforcing 5 times a day
      and

      Without love.

…and that doesn’t even consider the famous islamic sense of humour.

    • “Women are also told that by not complying, they are putting themselves at risk of unwanted sexual advances from men.”

This is blaming the victim. A credible woman on this topic is Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who states words to the effect:
Since we would not allow this abuse to continue against our little blonde girls, why do we allow this abuse to continue out of religious respect for Islam?

and Sam Harris states words to the effect:
Science can prove that those woman and girls deserve better than life in a cloth bag.

As a woman, I would not want to wear anything that interferes with my senses. A year round head wrap would make me too hot, limit my ability to hear clearly, and provides an attacker a ready garotte.

Get rid of all religion and I wonder if people would not become more productive with their minds in family and community, instead of wasting their minds on mythology.

      Spot on!
