I think that it’s time for our space program to concentrate upon becoming viable commercially. As we’re seeing already, it’s easy for NASA’s programs to seem like ivory tower nonsense to those setting budgets. By turning NASA into a profit center, we can resist those cuts and provide ongoing funding for new programs of interest to scientists such…[Read more]

Alan4discussion – wouldn’t you agree that irrational beliefs are not the sole monopoly of religious believers? Take, for instance, communism. However, we both agree that secular states are far preferable to theocracies. In my opinion, the worst thing that could ever happen to Christianity would be the putting into power of a so-called “Christian…[Read more]

phil rimmer – I do not think that it is possible for any of us to have a truly “clean start”. We are influenced by what came before us and those around us.

I’m not so sure this is grounds for celebration. Being an atheist says nothing about their position on other issues.

Why one would want to associate atheism with being raunchy escapes me.

One can legitimately disagree with how Mother Teresa ran her work in India and her opinions on some issues but Hitchens was wrong to condemn her for believing that suffering could be a gift of God. All of us are going to experience pain of one sort or another and suffer. It’s the response that makes the difference. If dealing with the suffering…[Read more]

It appears that those who did not agree with the home’s refusal to accept the money have effectively shut down its facebook page and the “contact” section on the organization’s homepage. While I disagree with their position, this was the wrong kind of response.

As an evangelical Christian, I do not want churches to tell me who to vote for because the next step is for politicians to tell me what to believe.

As an evangelical Christian, I find it ironic that non-believers get treated badly when they do not take part in the Pledge of Allegiance. Early Christians refused to take part in ceremonies intended to venerate the Emperor and paid a heavy price. The same kind of slurs about patriotism were made about them too. Wouldn’t you think we would have…[Read more]

    Dear Moderator,

I did see my post in this forum after I put it in but having worked with computers for almost 40 years nothing surprises me any more. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my comment. I appreciate it.

I am surprised that my post about how I as an evangelical Christian could support something like the Clergy Project was apparently taken down. If a religious leader no longer believes in God, then we ought to do what we can to help them make the move to a different career. The pain many of them must endure having to live a masquerade is not…[Read more]
