  • What a tragedy. My mother died of lymphoma. She had always been an angel, so soft spoken, understanding, kind. She had been religious too. When she got the diagnosis and began her chemotherapy, her personality […]

  • I gave Joseph Kopser a $104.12 (ActBlue gouges candidates 3.95%) contribution. He is running against Lamar Smith, perhaps the most anti-science person in Congress. Giving political contributions may seem like a […]

  • You guys are still tilting at windmills! It is frankly humiliating to see such anti-scientific hysteria here at Richard Dawkins Net. There are many kinds of genetically engineered crops out there and they are […]

  • Remember how we were recently told that demographics favored the Democratic Party, that Whites were a minority in “their own” country? Thanks to gerrymandering, limitless sources of money, and voter suppression, […]

My comment will probably be unpopular in some circles but we should praise American and other world farmers who who have adopted modern biotechnological advances which reduce the carbon footprint of agriculture. Minimum or no tillage systems reduce the number of passes farmers must drive their tractors over their fields, and exposure of sub-soils…[Read more]

I always wondered about animals on isolated islands in the Pacific Ocean. Maybe their ancestors floated or flew to these islands, but once they became sedentary, their genetic diversity must not have been very great. The same must be true for human Polynesian migrants who made it to these Pacific Islands. Their genetic pool must also have been…[Read more]

Well, maybe I should take that back about Kasparov. He has written some books and seems to be a very clear thinker.

Number 3, Garry Kasparov??? I like the guy but I haven’t heard any particularly earth-shaking thoughts from him lately. He was a great chess champ, though.

The man who suppressed the vote will now suppress science. After fake news, we will get fake science, {alt}science.

What is going on here? Are we being invaded by deluded Trump fanatics? The man is a con. His daughter is already cashing in by promoting her jewelry line in a 60 Minutes interview. Trump’s son-in-law is settling old grudges against the former prosecuting attorney who sent his father to prison. And Trump hasn’t even taken office yet. We will all be…[Read more]

Good luck with the German! I learned German as a child in my German-American family. I don’t know if I could have learned it otherwise. Although I have a great vocabulary, I still have lapses when I can’t remember the gender of a word. So don’t get frustrated, just barrel ahead. Learning a new language certainly is good exercise for the brain.…[Read more]

I don’t know what to say about this “visionary.” It seems like he just barely got involved with Tesla and that is having a rocky start. Then he jumped into space payload delivery and that is having a rocky start. Now he wants to get involved with colonizing Mars. I suspect a lot of investors are going to lose their money before this man is…[Read more]

Mr, DArcy @ #2 “Yes there are plenty of other nutters filled with hatred like the Florida nightclub man, and the German pilot who crashed his plane filled with holiday makers into the mountain.”

Er, the Florida nightclub man was also a Muslim terrorist…

It’s not very imaginative, but children are fascinated by dinosaurs. I think they pack a triple whammy because they obviously existed a long time ago, they died out when the climate changed and some are far too big to fit into any boat. Maybe some kind of dinosaur theme park with life-sized examples would be popular.

I have driven many times on El Camino in Mountain View, CA, and have seen the Google self-driving cars in action. They are very non-aggressive and exhibit “model” driving behavior. I thought the discussion at The Verge on the circumstances surrounding the only known accident caused by a Google Car was very interesting. The Google car is programmed…[Read more]

Now we have 100 Nobel laureates calling for the vilification of GMOs to stop. Yet, still we have people at RDF crying, “The sky is falling!” We have had almost twenty years of eating and growing GMO crops. Where are the dire consequences opponents have been promising? Or is something else at work? Is opposition to new crop technology really…[Read more]

It would appear that both Anton and Blue have been registered here for less than two months. I suppose they are the two Trump sock puppets designated to blow smoke in atheists’ eyes. I don’t think anyone will fall for it for a minute. Trump is the most unsuitable candidate for high office we have had in a long, long time. One has to be ill in the…[Read more]
