So that’s where Trump got that statement from! … His paster and bible group.

    • @OP – ‘God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un,’ evangelical adviser says

Apparently, God has also given Kim Jong Un, missiles to take out the US air base, where the bombers threatening his country operate!

. .. but what would we expect when the deluded lunatics have taken over the asylum – with their fellow incumbents cheering them on!

So that’s where Trump got that statement from!

I’m guessing, but he probably got his other Twittered “alternative facts” from similar low-information wish-thinking sources!

    • Can I say that this is stupidity on a level never seen before?

This is stupidity on a level never seen before.

You are probably right, but Bush has been quoted as saying that God told him to invade Iraq (because of “weapons of mass destruction”)!

Had Saddam actually retained his “weapons of mass destruction”, he might well have repulsed the US attack with his Scud missiles!

The present chaos in the middle east is a consequence of that decision by Bush, – not to mention the Harvard calculation that the Iraq and Afghan wars cost the US between $4 and $6trillion! – Most of which was borrowed and is not yet repaid!

    • Six months ago I was joking about living under my house. That may be a reality if these two
      nutballs can’t stop themselves.

And these are the people we want to manage our health care, shepherd the economy, and lead us by the still waters. And to think, I actually once thought Hillary was the more dangerous of the two.

Great, great comment! Wow! Very few people (who thought the way you did about Trump and Hillary) have the character and integrity and openness to say what you just said. I don’t want to sound condescending but Bravo! Nice to see you again. I feel heartened by that comment. Why are so many people so unmovable, so recalcitrant? Maybe it’s genetic; a loyalty gene run amok?

      Alf,

Hi! Trump and his team are so awful it isn’t even funny. (Not much of a comment, but mutual commiseration is salutary; pain shared is pain lessened.)

    • The interesting thing is that once again the believers do not read their book but merely live on soundbites. Replication of whatever their authorities say. I started to look for what the book of Romans actually states and how this applies to nuking North Korea.

I did not have to look very far: http://www.motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2017/08/can-someone-school-me-on-romans-13/

It is quite a stretch. This reads as a universal requirement to obey the authority under which you live. By default your leader is appointed by god – so kiss democracy goodbye – and also totalitarian leaders are cleared. You can take this further but why bother?

The essence is that you can often find a quote in this big nonsensical book to justify whatever you want to say or do and if you can’t……. you can make it up. They’ll believe you anyway. That’s what believers do.

    • Or maybe it’s just that St Paul, like religious leaders everywhere, understood the importance of keeping the state sweet, and the sound sense of trying to create some kind of symbiosis. Ir didn’t help him, they topped him none-the-less.

    • @OP – ‘God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un,’

      Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress,
one of President Trump’s evangelical advisers who preached the morning of his inauguration,
      has released a statement saying
the president has the moral authority to “take out” North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

I suppose there is an element of truth in that claim!

After all;- a large number of god-delusions had their puppet humans vote for Trump, to empower him with the presidential authority to choose to apply his “alternative morals”! 🙂

    • @OP – ‘God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un,’

As I recall, G. W. Bush claimed God had given him the authority to take out Saddam Hussain: – and the mess he created is still all over the Middle East!

. . . and the multi-trillion dollar debt borrowed to pay for the war, is still chalked up to the US taxpayers!
